Wanted it and if they had the cash to fund it. I suppose they're having money problems? I'm not entirely up to date on that situation. It also doesn't help that Okami sold so poorly that Clover had to shut down.
After Clover's closure, many of its talented folks moved over to Platinum.
I would love it if Platinum Games made another grande and sweeping Zelda-ish adventure, whether it's a sequel to Okami or not. With my curiosity itching, I asked Kamiya (director of Okami, Bayonetta, & more) a question on twitter that he's likely been asked a bunch of times.
This little exchange occurred:
@PG_kamiya Instead of a sequel to Okami, would you and Platinum consider making a spiritual successor? Like Bayonetta is to DMC?

*The tweet above links to a previous question where Kamiya indicates that he'd rather work on a sequel to Bayonetta instead of another game in the same genre. My response:
@PG_kamiya So Capcom needs to be convinced that Okami 2 by PG is a smart move.

Seems that way. RT @H2Oyea: So Capcom needs to be convinced that Okami 2 by PG is a smart move.

So Kamiya and Platinum seem game to do another one if only Capcom had the money and will to fund it. This seems like an impossible uphill battle.
But so did...
@H2Oyea Then let's hope someone decides to make the equivalent of Operation Rainfall to Capcom with Okami, Megaman, etc...

I know I wouldn't try organizing something like that. For multiple reasons, but mainly because I don't want to end up disappointed.
TL;DR The point of this thread is more to gauge interest. Would you want an Okami 2? What did you think of the first one? What would it take short of a miracle to get Capcom to give Platinum the rights to another Okami?
The only thing I can come up with, since Capcom seems to be having a hard time, is console exclusivity. That's basically what Platinum is living on right now (Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Scalebound). Okami started off as a PS2 exclusive. It is the crowning yet hidden gem of that platform. Capcom would need to give Platinum the rights and Sony would need to fund the game (since they looove their fans so much, right?). That's how I can see this happening, if it happens at all.
