    Anyway to unlock region restrictions?

Got a Japanese PS1 game, anyway to get it to work? I would most appreciate any help. I'm running a slim PS3 model.

Are you sure that the PS3 restricts the game?

Nevermind. I've discovered the PS3 itself is region free, but the PS1 games have region coding. Anyone know of any simi-legal way around my issue though?

I don't even think there's an illegal way around your issue as far as running it on a PS3.

You can buy some Japanese PS1 games on the Japanese PSN marketplace and they'll play on any PS3.

I've never looked too far into the emulator scene. I'm just waiting for some hardcore import guy on GB to show up and make my day better.

    Hmm don't think there's a way, broski.

You could try to rip the game and play on an emulator.  Legal since you bought the game but it's still in the grey area.

When I entered this thread I thought to myself "I bet he wants to play Dragon Ball GT Final Bout." When you said that was the game I LoL'd. You're import junkie is here. What you need is either a Japanese PS1, PS2, or PS3, or if you have a PS1 you need to track down a PS-X-Change 2. It's like what the Freeloader was for the GameCube, but for a PS1. There's some other stuff you can do too, but I suggest you let our good friend Google tell you about em as they are really in wishy washy territory regarding morals and such.

There's your problem, Bro. Slims can't run PS1 games, unless the "not backwards compatible" thing was talking about PS2 games...
