I was looking around Dell, and I noticed they had a low priced projector with DVI input (so I could use an HDMI to DVI cable). I was really excited, because I've always wanted a projector, and at 500$ it as cheaper than most good sized HDTVs.
But, its native resolution is at 800 * 600. However, it does say it will auto-sync up to 1600 * 1200, but that is still a 4:3 resolution. Will the PS3 still output at 1080p then, and their will just be small black bars above and below the image, or does it downgrade the HD image to 800 * 600 and blow it back up to 1600 * 1200 size? From the research I've googled, it appears to be the second, but I figured I'd get some first hand opinions.
Does anybody have a set up similar to this and knows how the PS3 looks on a 4:3 projector?
EDIT: Whoops, forgot to say it was a Dell 1209S I was looking at, and was wondering if anybody had the same.

Does anybody use a projector for their PS3?
I really want to, but it just doesn't look as crisp/HD as I would want it to, like a 50+" 1080p screen.
Yes, yes, that is what I thought. I was hoping I was just reading something wrong somehow though ..... This puts my projector dreams back a couple months now to save up for a 720p one.
