I did it this morning...was kind of hoping for more.
 
Personally i like the sparkles and when you load a game they disperse, which looks pretty cool. I also like the fact that there's a new icon, called 'TV' and it has BBC iPlayer already to go, which is pretty cool imo.
 
I hate the new friends list like most of you do...seriously, what were they thinking?!
 
Just wish there was more to it seeing as its a biggish update.

i dont see the problem with the font being bigger. seriously, you guys are being so fucking picky for complaining about that. 

I play on my computer monitor and the new font size is just too much, plus friends list is bleh. overall though not bad.

theres an bbc iplayer button on the xmb....thats prob the best thing i can see about this update

it looks different to me all they did was add the psstore in two different places. i need to check it out more, my friend came over and we left the house.

Looks like it. The new covers actually loook pretty good though.  I'm pretty disappointed with this update. Most of the cosmetic changes I don't like at all, it just seems like unnecessary clutter and duplication. And size. "

This should be like 2.9, not 3.0. What a lousy job with this one.
 
Oh wait, what's that, you're adding cross-game voice chat with 3.01? I'm really disappointed they didn't do anything "big" for 3.0 and half of the cosmetic changes they made weren't great.

EDIT: it's not bad. the only problems i have is that the playstation store icon in the video section is useless to me because it's not available in canada, it doesn't say PLAYSTATION 3 when you boot up a game, and that's about it. i don't like how the fonts are bigger though, cause it doesn't look as good on my HDTV
