Good thing I have a slim . . . not that it's a big deal since the only thing I do on my PS3 is stream movies from my Desktop . . . :P

So Slim > Fat? This is all a conspiracy to get us in to healthy food and sports!

Man, this must be like a snow day for all the Sony game developers. 

I dislike saying it myself but I'm glad I purchased a 360 as well at least to get my gaming fix. Some might say that Microsoft had, or still has, a similar issue with the on-going problems of the 360's hardware. However, comparatively speaking, the RROD didn't effect developers and reviewers from doing they're jobs. As was said in this article money is being lost here and Sony needs to take this whole mess into account when making the next Playstation. Who would of thought that anything could be bigger than the dreaded RROD? Besides, will this happen again later down the road due to a faulty clock or an improper build of the XMB in some way? It seems so ridiculous to think that a simple clock can cause all this.

My old PS3 60gb is back online and so far it all seems fine and intact. Awesome!

Haven't turned on my PS3 all day just to not risk it, already wishing I was playing Borderlands right now.

Well, we've got 22 minutes till 02/03/2010 here in GMT land... so hopefully ticking over to tomorrow will get it all sorted out; I'll try after midnight and update you all here.

Technology breaks, people should be used to it by now surely.
 
For all the money lost today due to no work being done in regards to PS3 game development it'll still not add up to anywhere as much as the amount lost over the years due to countless blue screens of death with computers.

my 80 gb (non-backwards compatible) works just fine aside from the fact that the clock is 6 minutes fast. kinda afraid to fix it in light of this craziness

My is back online.  Had to use the set date/time via internet option as it was still saying 1/1/2000.  60gb
