Ive been thinking of buying a ps3 but i really cant justify paying  4 99 for a gaming system so does anyone think there will be a new price drop in the near future?

i wouldn't get your hopes up. You would be extremely lucky if there is a price drop around Christmas but even that is having high hopes. Just pay the money its a wicked console

I haven't heard of any. The PS3 is a big investment, you're making a good choice to hold off and not buy it on impulse.
Keep this in mind though, out of the 360 and PS#, the PS3 is the cheapest after all is said and done.

I wouldn't doubt we see another drop this christmas - there's no evidence behind that, it's just how I feel. That said. Complaining about a system that's like $100 more than the other guys is retarded. Stop living in 06 when the system was $700.

umm at my current best buy its 4 99 4 the metal gear bundel and i already have a blu ray player i generaly dont play games online and i actually didnt know that the ps3 had a network thingy magigy...... oh and hush im not complaining its expensive compared to the xbox ( witch was a gift )

i knew the ps3 had online  but i thought u had 2 buy a network adapter i think the ps3 is a amazing consol thingy and id be all over it if i didnt have a blu ray player so i dont think i can justify a buy so im wondering about the chances of a price drop

Ooh, ooh, I have an idea! Ditch your first blu-ray player :D lol. Also yeah, the MGS4 bundle is going to be more than a normal barebones unit eh?

yeah ive been bruned way to many times with getting the base model of a consol and then just needing to buy everything
oh and mgs4 looks amazing

For the 80GB system, $399 is great

I don't think there will be a significant price drop soon, and think about it, your not only forking over $400 for an awesome game system, your also buying one of the best Blu-Ray players on the market today. The price is definitely worth it.

You do not have the 40 GB where you live?  It is only $399.  I would just wait until they upgrade the Harddrive in the 40GB to 80GB.  The price will still be $399

Why did you waste money on a stand alone Blu-Ray player? you could have bought a PS3 or at least had a significant chunk of money to put towards a ps3. Your mistake.

This is just speculation on my part but with the new 80GB model coming out for $399 I don't think they will drop the price again this year. I think the very earliest they would drop the price again would be next Spring 2009, maybe in time for Infamous. So going by that is it worth it to you to wait 6-8 months just to save $100.00?

You mentioned you want LittleBigPlanet. You could just wait until LBP is released, I think at the end of October, and then decide to buy a PS3 or wait longer for a price drop. If there was going to be a price drop before Christmas, I think they would have announced it by then. Just my opinion though.
