I have a rather large collection of PS1 games, and im thinking of just playing them on my PS3, instead of dreadging up my old PS1. Is it as good as playing them on a actual PS1? is it worse? are there issues?
It's nearly 100% compatible. You also have some additional filtering options. I think it's only one of the Final Fantasy collection titles that has problems but there might be others.
It's pretty much the same except, if you on a HDTV the pixels will stretch to accommodate the screen. Also when I was playing through FF7 on my PS3, it tended to lag during the summon sequences, I do not know if this happens with other PS1 games.
And aforementioned, virtual memory cards are great.

I think he meant don't bother rebuying the games on the PSN (which a lot of people do..) or going out to buy a PSOne. The games are emulated perfectly on the PS3, it's exactly like playing them on the original system. No need to go out and buy the original system, unless you want to be really old school about it.
@Psykerstar: PS2 games, no. PS1, yes :D Or well, Dunno about the Slims actually, My original PS3 60gb plays both PS2 and PS1 games and my later 80 and 40 only plays PS1 games. Not sure if they took that out of the slims :/
