My friend, I think it will be a great investment. Not only will Sony lead the console war by the end of this generation, they are also thinking to the future. Blu-Ray, better hardware, all the boring details add up to a greater machine. The discs hold more content. The PS3 runs smoothly, without a sound. Compared to the 360, it's stealthier than Snake. Which brings me to my next point: exclusives. Metal Gear Solid 4 is revolutionary - you can't play it anywhere else. And it's well worth the money. Online gaming is free. Unlike Microsoft, Sony doesn't make its users pay for the rights to play their favorite games online. Oh, and the PS3 is more reliable. It won't break down, unlike that other noisy console ...

In conclusion, purchasing a Sony Playstation 3 is well worth it.

And that concludes the end of the Sony marketing hour.

That information is all kinds of wrong. I'm not sure what country you are in but in the US the PS3 80gig bundle with MGS4 is $500 and the 40gig model is $400. Games are like $60 and less.

Is that worth it yeah I would say I have had my PS3 for a over a year and I use it all the time to play games and watch movies. it feeds my HD needs. I also have a 360 and a Wii but the PS3 gets the most playtime these days.

as his using $ signs and its at the 800 mark id say his talking about AUS or NZ

if you dont care about playing AUS or NZ dvd/blue-ray movies and waiting for post pick yourself up one from play-asia.com it works out cheaper
games are region free dvds and blue ray movies are not
if you plan to use it as a blue-ray player down the track you will have to buy US blue-rays (also cheaper)

    game wise you have
little big planet, res fall of man 2 and kill zone 2

Look into future games for the PS3 and future games for the 360, and see which ones you prefer more. Since it is so expensive in your country, you might as well get a system that will deliver the game that you prefer.

It really depends on what you are looking for in a gaming console. MS has more games but has more issues. PS3 has a Blu Ray drive which is great if you have an HDTV. I have both and I think they are both great. I do play more games on the Xbox tho.

If you want it and are planning to play a lot of PS3 games then get it...Don't look at it as a investment...it's not going to be a system thats value increases lol...Though I am a bit curious as to where you live as well because that is quite a bit of money for a PS3.

I don't think anyone can really tell you if it's worth it. Just look at the PS3's library and it's upcoming games, and decide if you want a PS3.
PS3 are fairly good and MSG4 is an excellent game, personally though I prefer my Xbox 360 for XBL and it's game library. (Not trying to start a fanboy war.)

Not even I paid anywhere close to $800 when I bought mine last year ...

So I'd say New Zealand since their economy is worse than ours.

That's a bit too much. Even if you live in Australia. I did the currency converter.  900 AUD = 864.207 USD. I dunno. I'd recommend buying one overseas.

If you want a PS3 more than you want a 360 or Wii, then obviously buy the PS3.

I think it is worth it, if you want to enjoy High definition DVD's on blu-ray or you want to enjoy some of PS3's exclusive games like Resistance, Uncharted, Ratchet and clank, MGS4, infamous and Little Big Planet. Free online is definitely a plus.

Well if you have a HDTV I guess it would be a waste not to watch Blu-ray.
