MGS4 if you played the other Metal Gear Solid games.

You need MSG4.

Orange Box is also a good addition if you like the Half Life series.

Get Warhawk for sure. I've been addicted to this game for 6 months. I would suggest buying the blu-ray version, and then pick up the 3 booster packs for $15.99. Also if you don't already have a bluetooth headset, I would suggest picking one up. And save some money for: Little Big Planet, Socom, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2 ( if your into racing games), and whatever games you want!

One of the best games right now is ofcurse MGS4, cod4 is really good online and warhawak just got a patch that makes it AWESOME
so get mgs4 for single player awesomess and cod4, warhawk for online:P

Get Burnout Paradise, and Battlefield Bad Company too.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a MUST (that is, if you don't have a 360). Best FPS I have ever played and has definitely set the bar for future FPS.

I do think that you need to be an MGS fan or at least aware of the series to play and enjoy MGS4.

i would highly recommend dark sector also. i loved the games single player.

I know quite a few people who jumped into MGS4 without playing any of the other games. If people do some research and find out some basic background information about the series before playing MGS4, I think they'll be okay. I don't think the story would be as emotional for them if they haven't played the other games, but I think it's still possible to enjoy the game and get the basics of the storyline."

I was going to say Uncharted, even though I've yet to play it. This is one game I will need upon getting a PS3.

I really enjoy Dynasty Warriors 6 and Folklore.

On PSN Bionic Commando, Super Stardust, and Pixeljunk Monsters are good games. If your into old school RPG's you can download Wild Arms from the PSone section. Thats a classic PS1 era RPG, and one of the top 5 on the system.

Congratulations! I suggest you pick up Metal Gear Solid 4, Disgaea 3, Burnout Paradise, and Devil May Cry 4. And if you're a real racing fan, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is simply stellar, but for some people there isn't enough content. I hope you enjoy your PS3, I'll add you soon!

Don't have one myself, but i've heard that mgs4 game was ok...

I  was trying to wait for the MGS4 bundle when that happened in June but when GTA hit in Aril I couldn't resist.  I picked up a 40 gig then, over time I've gotten GTA, Uncharted, Assassins Creed, Skate, MGS4,  Soul Calibur 4, COD4
