just throwing this out there

 since Disney now owns marvel and all of its IP's, its logical to assume the publishing rights to the spiderman movies and everthing assiciated with it, including the rights to use the old spiderman font, would also be bought by disney.

 unless there is still an existing contract between sony and marval that disney chose to honor (which i dont see why they would) that says XX number of spiderman movies must be made, I dont think we will be seeing any more spiderman movies made by sony studios

 s this the explanation? probably not. but a theory nonetheless that could explain the rebranding

I like this one better. I hated the PS3 logo being on the side, it just didn't feel right to me.

as long as its the same case i don't care what the front looks like.

I took the PES 2010 cover, and measured the aspect ratio, which it happens to be 500x576. I then measured the Batman: Arkham Asylum case of Amazon, and when blown up, measure 500x576! The cases (should) be the same!

Ehhhhhhhh, I don't like it. I really like the old game boxes but they have to change it to worse? Not cool one bit. I don't understand why Sony is doing this at all.

I liked it the old way, after awhile I stopped associating that font with Spider-Man and forgot all about it. The new style looks nice but its been 3 years, its a little too late to start completely redesigning everything about your system. Its taken Sony 3 years to nail down the definitive PS3 console itself with the slim, it took them 2 years to nail down a first party mic, now they're changing box art completely instead of just adding gimmicky "only on" and "Playstation Network" logos to better emulate the 360.

Too much grey, it's not very plesent..  And the inclusion of the Playstation Network logo seems completely pointless.  The only reason I see it being there is because Xbox games advertise XBL. 
Still better than the old cases though, using the Spider-man font was a terrible idea.

Looks like a PS2 box art...with bad Photoshop work.  Didn't see anything wrong with the old way...outside of the shitty Spider-Man font.

I miss the Spiderman font.

edit: the PES (PAL) one does look better.

I like it. Now my games will have the same logo as my PS3 slim.

It's fine really, reminds me of PS2 boxes.

I couldnt tell by memory what my current PS3's boxes looked like.
So you could guess that I dont care what the new ones will look like. 

Ugly gradients, just keep it clear.

ya know as much as I like the PS3 a lot of things like this make me question Sony's intelligence.

Looks smart. I just wish they'd made it like that originally. Its gonna be annoying having 2 different looking cases on my shelf

i need to see this on an actual blu-ray case. it just seems like wit that extra marking on the top the box art is going to be squished down and have to be even smaller.

the psn logo just looks slapped on and all tiny.

Meh. It looks alright.

I don't really care so much. If anything I wouldn't mind if the spine remained he same to make them fit neater on my shelf but that would be it.

According to this video, Uncharted 2 has not adopted the new PS3 box design, but has still removed the Spiderman font from the side.

Damn. If they just had the cover art and no PS3 logo or anything on the front (like the video @LiquidPrince: posted), I'd be in heaven. Seriously, you can see the words PS3 on the clear plastic, so you really wouldn't need it on the box.

I don't really care all that much. I spent more time playing the game inside the box than I do looking at it. 
And when all my games are placed on the shelf they're usually facing with the side out towards the room. So I don't even get to see the front of the box there.. 
So I don't mind.. Nit picking isn't for me.

I don't mind the new box designs, I just hate the new font. The cases sill look similar, so the uniform shelf thing won't bug me i think.

I suppose I'm just glad the spiderman font has gone.
