So you have to be a Plus member to backup your save data online? That's pretty weak. There are people out there who have old PS3's that cost them $400-$600. I guess that's not enough?
WEAK SAUCE. You wait...we'll be paying for PSN soon enough.

The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
Oh, comon Sony
Just like you need to be a Plus member to download the MK demo. I know it's just a demo but that sucks. We're talking about one of my favorite franchises here. Screw you, Sony.
The timed demo thing is kind of annoying, but storing saves on-line costs money. I don't think it's that weird, or necessary really.
Even if you were paying for cloud storage, I think they amount they allocate to you is minimal.. What is it: 150 MB? That's incredibly low considering many RPGs (and even non-RPGs) have large save files (8MB each for some games).
If Xbox Live offered some sort of cloud storage service I would totally go for it (even if at a reasonable additional fee) because it would make alternating between consoles so much easier for me. I just hope that if/when Microsoft does it, they give you more than 150MB. Storage capacity is so ridiculously cheap these days that 150 MB is a joke. I have like 5 TB in my home server, and just paid a less than a hundred bucks for another 2 TB drive - there is no reason they can't be providing much more than 150 MB per account, considering how cheap storage is today.
In any case, I haven't even considered upgrading to Playstation Plus because I don't play the PS3 enough to justify the cost.
I know. I'm such an ass for making a minor complaint on a message board. Please feel free to direct me to your house in Happy Land where everything is picture perfect." @PatriotsAreGod: Everyone else gets the demo this week. Quit bitching. 360 demo hasn't even been dated. "

Exactly. The greatest perk (for me) about the PS3 was a free network. But I feel like Sony is starting to charge for these little things, so a PSN fee will gradually settle in rather than come out of nowhere." @Soap said:

" @Pessh said:Geeze, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. As for paying a premium to get extra features, sure why not? I'm a not a cheap ass. And also, you're assuming that we will someday have to pay for PSN which there is no real indication of. I bought and still have an original 60GB which I payed over $600 for. That doesn't change the fact that new models were developed that saved on power consumption, had more storage, slimmer form factor and cost less money to boot. Did I lose sleep because I felt Sony betrayed me? No.I know. I'm such an ass for making a minor complaint on a message board. Stop worrying over such trivial matters.
If you want extra features pay for plus, there is no reason bitching about it. And its not Sonys problem people bought that big lump for 600$. Lets face it the PS3 was really weak feature wise back when it launched. I'm happy i bought mine 3 years after it launched, cause at that time the feature set had been expanded, and the price had dropped.
Cloud services costs money, so you cant really expect it for free.
I still don't see a reason to buy a Plus membership tho.
Some of us don't get Qore in the PSN Store. And the "free" games are only yours until you stop paying for Plus. So i still don't see why i should pay for it. If Sony ever throws in cross game chat, then i might." @pornstorestiffi: Free games...done...well I guess they aren't totally free but still...done Oh and Qore so you have something to watch while hungover/drunk "
If it becomes a Plus bonus that is.
So lets say hypothetically you sign up for a year of plus right now. imagine the psn game that you won't finish in a year. Also you don't have to give all the stuff back minis and psone classics you keep, along with anything you buy at discount. I mean yeah you don't technically own the downloaded plus freebies and you can't go back and get ones that were offered before you signed on but they're not really part of the main feature set of plus.
Having said that I never plan on not subscribing to plus; Sony does an excellent job of keeping the freebies, special demos and Cadillac features rolling down the pike that I might always be a plus subscriber.
-In all fairness I own both a PS3 and PSP so I get the most out of Plus. You millage may vary-
Well thats what you get for being an idiot and buying a product when it sucks and costs way to much." So you have to be a Plus member to backup your save data online? That's pretty weak. There are people out there who have old PS3's that cost them $400-$600 "
Also Playstation Plus is awesome. Your either a thirteen year old who cant afford it, or a cheapskate - either way you suck.
If you don't want to pay sony to back up your saves then don't. Buy an external hard drive and use the system backup feature.
I think a better way to handle this would have been to offer the 150MB crap to free users and give Plus members unlimited storage. Saying that cloud storage costs money, while obviously true, isn't much of a defense for Sony. Look at Dropbox, 2GB of free storage for anyone with an email address. Or, more on the gaming side, look at Steam. Steam Cloud is free and much better integrated into games than the PSN cloud saves. I suppose we just have to be glad that they just rolled it into Plus instead of making it a five dollar per month add on or something. For the record, I don't really care about cloud saves on consoles, I just don't think the whole 'it costs too much money to be free' argument really flies.
The cloud option got me to pay $50 for a year of PSN Plus, and I know of at least half a dozen other people who did the same thing, so apparently added value means something.
It's only $50/year, and you get another 3 months on top when you sign up through PSN. Yeah, paying for stuff sucks. Welcome to civilization.
People bitched when Sony announced PSN Plus because they didn't see any value in it. Now it has value, and people still bitch. Can't win.
" PS plus is just like a WM membership, it adds extra features for subscribers, nothing was taken away from the free users. All the features you had on PSN, since the beginning, are still there. I see nothing wrong with this. "
" I'm sorry but how in anyway is this different to Gold membership on xbox live? "Considering that PlayStation 3 is supposed to have free online, becoming more like Xbox Live Gold is not perceived as a good thing.
I'm a Plus member but as long as I get to play mutliplayer free all the features that come with Plus are just a bonus.
" @Soap said:Right, and the bit that matters is still free, all they are charging for is extra stuff. If people want to get upset by anything it should be the no online for silver 360 accounts." I'm sorry but how in anyway is this different to Gold membership on xbox live? "Considering that PlayStation 3 is supposed to have free online, becoming more like Xbox Live Gold is not perceived as a good thing. "
Yeah paying for online service sucks, but that's the way of the future... at least for now. Sony would be a fool if they kept every online service free. But don't forget that paying for online service was pioneered by the original Xbox. So that would be a more sensible target to direct your anger, but even then, that event is long gone.
People complained about Xbox Live charging too, I think, but it was ages ago. Those people either never subscribed to Gold, or they've stopped caring and are now giving Microsoft money anyway. Same thing's going to happen here.

I don't think you can say "comon". That just doesn't work. It's "come on" (2 words) or "c'mon" if you want to abbreviate it.
Also thusfar (and as I recall their stated intent) is playstation plus only adds features, it does't remove any existing free features. For instance cloud saving, which requires them to run servers that cost money. There is no reason free users should be entitled to it.
It's attitudes like this that are going to discourage companies like Sony from providing any free services like the PSN at all anymore. They did a good thing giving their customers basic services for free, but now that they need to charge a little for some random extras to sustain a profit, people get all worked up.
They could have just taken the Microsoft approach and charged you for everything up front without any freebies. You'd have nothing to complain about now because you would've been conditioned to accept that as the norm for online console services.
Why give out anything for free when there are people out there that just use it to inflate their sense of entitlement?

I pay for every game brand new. I have bought 2 PS3's, brand new. I have bought two extra controllers, brand new. Excuse me for thinking it sucks I have to subscribe to Plus to play a demo. I'm such a greedy bitch. Although, I should retract the complaint about cloud. I probably wouldn't bother with it anyway." And they didn't take the Microsoft approach because they don't want to suck. But like I have said before, I get an eerie feeling we'll be paying for PSN in the future.
I think it's nice that Sony is giving added value to it's subscribing customers. It has no obligation to give you anything for free, and this is just an added value proposal to the existing pay service.
You've never had cloud saving before, so why should you just get it for free? Saying you've bought a million playstations doesn't matter, you're still not paying for Plus, so Sony has no reason to dump free shit on you when they have a perfectly good pay service, and customers to please.

Why would people like me be forced to buy it? I would never pay for Netflix, Twitter or Facebook features on any console. But for the people who do want that stuff, its there for a premium price, thats just how it is, and you kind of have to deal with that. Microsoft and Sony runs a business, they want our money, the are not our friends. If they can milk more money out of people, they will do it.
