Online has become an even greater part of todays video-games. Most games now come with multiplayer mode, and most of these allow us to play over the internet. We can now fight with or against anyone, anywhere in the world. Single-player is still the base of video-games but I think that in the near future, this may change. There are already a lot of Multiplayer-Online only games out there such as WarHawk and with many more to come like M.A.G..
So, the real question is: How much do you play online?
I personally prefer the online over the single-player in most games. Online is usually more intense because nothing can be more real than playing against other real humans. Another advantage of online is that it doesn't end. While the single-player will eventually end, the online will always be there. But not everything is fancy about playing online. One of the major downsides of online play is that there usually isn't any storyline or plot to follow. You just pick or create a character and you are trown into battle and some people may find this silly or simply stupid. Some games have tried to fix this, like Resident Evil online, where the players had to follow a certain path but it didn't seem to work very well.
Aside from all this, online play keeps on growing. I myself play more online than single-player. I mix it in between single and online play but after the single-player is beat and everything is unlocked, I move over full time to online and just play it until I get bored of it or another new game is released. I hope that online will keep on growing because I really enjoy playing it and there is nothing more cool than going online to kick some ass.

Online - How much do you play it?
Yeah, it's the most I've ever played a game online (I only have 10 hours right now).
But before MGO I've never played an online game for more than a week. I played TF2 on PC but got bored with it quickly (which is ridiculous, I know).
Then I had to go and get Gene Expansion but can't even spend my Reward Points and I still haven't found anyone playing on a new map!
I play online fairly irregularly. If I get a new game, I'll probably play it online about 2 hours a day on average. Otherwise, not much. CoD was an exception, I played that around 3hours a day on average for about 3 months. I used to play SOCOM and SOCOM 2 a load online on the PS2 as well.
ReTarDedFisHy plays Online as much as he can to keep his skills sharp - and pointy. Like a knife. A sharp knife.
I very rarely play online right now. But you better believe that when games like Socom and MAG come out I'll be playing them constantly.
hardly ever
I dont have the time i used to when i was younger to devote that much time to a good online session
I probably play online more than I do offline, to be honest.
Games like COD4, GTA IV, Burnout: Paradise, HAZE, Resistance, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, MGO and many more are all games I enjoy playing online.
I hardly play at all anymore, mostly just TF2 and MGO. I just can't put in the same time I was once able to. I play more single-player then online but even that's not worth mentioning.
Online is a big reason for me buying the games.
But there are exceptions. Third person adventure games don't really need online (Drakes fortune, Assassins Creed - those types), and I still really enjoy the single player in those. Some games have amazing single player campaigns.
But other games use the online for after you beat single player to keep you going. SOCOM was amazing on PS2 for having good single and AMAZING online. I prefer it like this. But yes, I really like online games - but I prefer to play online with friends who have mics.
i love online right now cod4. i wish some games would add SPLIT SCREEN CO-OP instead of ONLINE CO-OP its really sad latly. only games that use split screen really is army of 2, r6v1 and 2, warhawk and then haze. even racing games stoped using it.
Online is the only thing I play right now.
I usually play offline for maybe 1 hour at the most. Just GTA IV.
i love multiplayer, mainly gettin with people and regularly playing together and become good friends and haveing more indepth tactics together.
It seems some people prefer online, others prefer offline and some like both. But overall, almost everyone has already played online at some point. And like some of you have said, a lot of online games out there don't have co-op multiplayer. Call of Duty 5 is a game I recall that will have co-op multiplayer online and I really like the sound of that.
I tend to mostly play online games... but I also like to have an offline game on the go at the same time. I find many offline games are a relaxing break from the intensity of online gaming. I usually spend 4 or 5 nights a week gaming online (usually Warhawk), but I play offline games during the day or if I'm only going to play for about an hour.
(Though it depends... I got quite heavily into Oblivion and played it probably 75% of the time and only played Resistance online on Friday and Saturday nights... I can sort of see that happening when Fallout 3 comes out!)
ok, ok.. spank me but I've never played online while on my ps3.. my friend's list is so huge on xbl, I guess I'm worried about not having the fun/great friends on ps3 as well.. No offense to those that are loads of fun but a lot of the ps3 fan'boys' have scared me off from making that jump.. *blushing*
Recongoddess... I've had no problems at all with fan boys on the PS3. The PS3 seems to have a large diversity of gamers and seems to be a fairly mature group. There are a lot of female gamers in games like Warhawk and there are evenly openly gay gamers - frankly most gamers seem more concerned with just gaming than harassing someone because of a nick.
You do get the occasional 13 year old boy that figures he has to teamkill you while yelling "girls don't game"... but they are few and far between and generally easily taken care of because they tend to spend most of their time running around looking for attention - rather than learning how to play the game.
Recently, I've been playing COD4 online a lot. Currently a level 29 first prestige with my friend, which we play COD4 every night now and grab some late light energy drinks for the occasion. My other friends got bored of COD4 and we'll most likely play SOCOM and LBP when those release.
