Yo!  i am getting a new PS3 for my birthday!  My girlfriend will be coming over the day after and when my brother gets home to halt everything we need to do other things.  I already have Little Big Planet but I don't want to play with some damn sacks all day.  I was thinking RE5 or Borderlands but am open to suggestions.  I'm not trying to get her into games either since she is already big into games.

Resistance. First one has great campaign co-op. I never played Resistance 2 co-op, but I know it has it, but can't recall if it's split-screen or not.

I'm pretty sure both Resistance games include local co-op, but the second game's co-op campaign probably won't be that much fun with just two people.

Check out the PixelJunk games on PSN.  I'm pretty sure they all have local co-op.

R6: Vegas might have local co-op?  I'm not positive.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (50 games for $10-20) is a must for local co-op fans, as it contains some classic co-op titles like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage.

Demon's Souls doesn't technically have co-op, but if one of you plays while the other wipes the player's tears away it can kind of feel like co-op.

If you're willing to play some INCREDIBLY generic, but fairly well-designed shooting, the modern warfare games have splitscreen. Super Stardust HD has fantastic but hard co-op. Shank has co-op, but it's not very fun. Borderlands has co-op splitscreen! Uh...anything else?

The first one has story mode split-screen co-op, the second one has a bad co-op online mode which can also be played with split-screen.

Yes, I know the 360 version of Vegas has split-screen, so PS3 must too. Pretty fun too (though it completely gets rid of all the story stuff).
