Now I'll have to buy another PS3; glad I got rid of my old one for $300. Because I can get a slim now! A lot of promising games are coming out.

great, now I gotta try and sell my 40 GB for a little more than half of what i got it for?!?!?!?!  Since no one will buy it for more than $200 probably.  This F***in sucks and rocks at the same time.

Cool to hear confirmation, 120GB HDD on the thing is a nice surprise though, I'd still want to see if this redesigned model will still accept any laptop HDD's however.

I'd like to know who does the math at Sony, because mo matter how I count it I can't make $299 = 299 Euros. I think they have the same stupid guy that does the math at Valve...

Good work Sony. Great job getting the price down, the system smaller and the functionality the same. Really wish them every success with the PS3 this holiday season. It's had a rough ride and, in my opinion, I don't think the past year has been justified. Sony have been making strides and I hope this convinces a few more people to try the system out.

Didn't SONY say they were working on something to give BC to the PS3s that dont have it? im just assuming that what ever it is and what ever firmware revision it will be on, im sure that the slim will get it also.

Well done, Sony. Noticeably lacking: backwards compatibility. Any chance those PS2 legacy games will be showing up in the PSN store? That 120 gig drive sure is roomy enough for them.

Normally, I would be at least a little annoyed that I paid more...but mine plays PS2 games so that makes up for it at least a little.

I like the way the new slim looks. Lack of shininess is good, my PS3 got scratched to shit just sitting in my entertainment center :(.

I was hoping this would be announced sooner or later and I'm very happy it's sooner.  I'm very curious about the motion controller announcement they're gonna make at TGS?  The only thing they could possibly say is a release and possibly its design.  I highly doubt they have an actual game to show off with it.  But I'm excited nonetheless.

So I'm assuming it's not BC? =/

Looks nice. 30% lighter and smaller is good, but more than 30% less power usage means a lot to certain people. 
 
It's a bummer that I got my PS3 only this summer for 400 bucks. :/
