Price Cut

Sony Computer Entertainment Staff Annual Briefing held on November  (21/11/2008) in as a private meeting . fortunately (or unfortunately ) some of the news have been leaked and as a matter of fact they all worth your attention  .

Perhaps the most important news was about PlayStation 3’s price cut . SCEE President David Reeves took to the stage to discuss the current economic climate and how it shouldn’t affect PlayStation business, though was quick to mention that SCEE will be getting more competitive in price from March 2009 onwards . so we all should expect a Price cut [the amount is still unknown ] on March 2009 ( yes , also Resident Evil 5’s release date ! )  .

PS3 is more popular among PAL territories than 360

David Reeves reported that  PS3 is performing better in PAL territories and there is a huge install base dedicated to Sony , he also added that this install base gap will significantly increase in 2009 .

2009 Exclusive Titles

Sony has managed to prepare some of its top notch exclusive tiles for 2009 .  3 exclusive trailers were shown during  Sony Computer Entertainment Staff Annual Briefing .

First trailer was about Uncharted 2 , the trailer was pretty thrilling and showed Drake being shot at the end , the graphics were relatively like the first game and there was not so much difference between two but the game certainly looks promising nevertheless  .

The second trailer was about Killzone 2 (oh man ! I can not wait )  showed the character from the original trailer and a Helghan leader , the trailer was as breathtaking as someone might think and the graphics looked even better .

The third and last trailer was about the long awaited  title God Of War 3 .  the game easily looked like the best looking game on PS3 so far  [ some even mistook it with CGI ]

The trailer showed Kratos wielding his swords and fighting off hoards of skeletons and Cyclops’s, before catching a ride on an eagle, and killing it when he got dropped off. The final scene showed Kratos looking up to a long dark, deep cavern, presumed to be .

But these are not all the exclusive titles , you should also expect games such as                Gran Turismo 5 , Ratchet & Clank 2009 , Infamous .

So there you have it , an amazing year for the PS3 owners is about to begin so prepare yourself for a wonderful ride .

Gears 2 is ok, L4D is multiplat and better on PC, Fable 2 sucked, Banjo sucked, Fallout 3 is on all three systems and is still much better on PC. Nice try though."

I own a PS3, it sits idle whilst I finish Zelda Ocarina of Time on Wii, Gears 2 on Xbox 360, play WoW, Far Cry 2, Crysis Warhead, Red Alert 3, Sins of a Solar Empire on PC. I do have Dead Space and Burnout Paradise on PS3 to play, haven't gotten around to it yet. These 'years of' things don't mean much to me, being the owner of a mid-range PC, X360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP... I couldn't care less whos' year it is. I am ready for it all.

I don't own either the 360 (defective hardware) or the PS3 (too expensive), so I carry no real baggage.  I do think that even the most subjective could see that the PS3 is a better piece of electronics and the 360 has a better game library.  Based on sales trends, I do see the 360 eventually being overtaken by the PS3.  The PS3 is more popular in Europe and the 360 in America.  The variable is Japan which ill never buy serious numbers of the 360.  Based on the sales trends, indeed, the PS3 will have a better year than the 360.

Can we stay on topic to the actual blog post now and stop talking about console wars and "winning". Only the consumer wins - the consumer who experiences the BEST of all three consoles/the consumer that ENJOYS the games he chooses to play.

And if you ACTUALLY read the blog and ignored the "PS3 to win" title you may educate your narrow minded little head into realising there are great things rumoured for the PS3 this year.

EDIT: And PLEASEEEEE can we quash this myth of the PLaystation 3 having "no games". You have all your multi-plats (and there are only a few that are substandard -- WHICH IS THE DEVELOPERS FAULT BY THE WAY; pull the "PS3 is hard to code for" line all you want, if a developer wants to make money off the system they should release suitable port of their game [applies to any system]) plus a handful of exclusives that are all both critically and commercially acclaimed. The "no games" argument doesn't hold up anymore - even if the games don't appeal to you personally, they are still there!

Show me something, anything! Whatever Team Ico's working on, some more gameplay from Heavy Rain, some proper gameplay from God Of War 3, some InFamous, some La Noir. Anything which I can play on your machine which I won't rather play on my 360.

^ dude hold your horses , Blu-ray is what makes PS3 special ,  Blu-ray is what turns a gaming console to a family entertainment machine .
as for the game trailers and footage You gotta wait a bit and you will see all sorts of  Videos and demos .
X360 is better than PS3 !  we all know it , that is why I endorse Microsoft  and not Sony  but you should consider that PS3 is also a damn awesome console , tell you what ?  I personally love 3 letters : G and O and W why ? because Gears of war is my favorite game of all time and God Of war is my favorite game on PS3 .

Hell, I have more blu-ray movies than PS3 games. That's sad, but clearly shows what Sony's plan is.
It's no secret that the PS3 is a trojan horse to get Blu-ray into homes first and a game console second.
The 360 works as a very well entertainment system without blu-ray when it comes to streaming media off your comp/ipod/whatever.

I'm just so terribly disappointed in the mismanagement, subterfuge and straight up lies that Sony is serving it's fans.
I'm never gonna believe that anything they show me is gameplay until I have hands on proof of someone playing it. And this isn't just sor grapes over the Killzone 2 debacle. Remember the Final Fantasy 8 tech demo they made for the PS2? It torpedoed the Dreamcast and was just another filthy lie.
I want the PS3 to do good, cause it's an impressive machine and competition is always good, but Sony's really amde my shitlist inbetween the comments of $600 being "too cheap" to the "rumble is so last gen" quips to the fact that Little Big Planet is supposed to be the exclusive I should be excited about this holiday season? Fuck you Sony. I expect more from you.

PS3 has not been a shining star so far and believe it or not I myself have only 4 games for this console : MGS4 , Little Big planet , Resistance 2  , Uncharted . on the other hand I have a collection of over 100 Blu-Ray movies (most of ‘em were bought by my family because they love to watch HD movies !!! )

What I am telling you is that you have to wait a little longer , PS3 is not the best console ever made but in 2009 it will get  much better than what it currently is  . Home is coming  along with Price Cut and more Exclusive titles

The "no games" argument is played out, but it wouldn't be such an issue if Sony hadn't been saying that the PS3 is so miles away from the competition that there is no comparison. Their exclusives are easily trumped by multiplat games which are even inferior on their hardware.
Motorstorm? Sorry, but Pure and Burnout Revenge are superior driving games?
Resistance 1 & 2 and Haze? Sorry, but COD4 and the Orange Box surpass them.
Ratchet and Clank is a nice original title. Wipeout as well. But I expect more after two years.
