So, I traded in about eight of my 360 games that I don't play anymore and I was considering paying off some of my XONE games but the local shop I went to literally gave me enough trade in/store credit value to pick up a 160GB PS3 for free. So yeah, I went for it. On a side note, I would love to get both PS4 and XONE at launch but I'm not digging the PS4 line-up so I'm getting it in April after my winter semester.

So, I picked up Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 is free, DCUO and I grabbed a $15 copy of the massive God of War Saga consisting of FIVE games! I'm really, really anxious to pick up The Last of Us and my brother wants Resistance. I'm probably going to pick up Journey off of PSN.

Are there are PS3 games that you duders would like to recommend. I've played almost all multi-platform games through the 360 so I'm not looking to grab Battlefield, Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, etc.

I recommend you grab a copy of Last of Us, then theres the Ratchet and Clank future series, Infamous, Ico & SotC HD, LitleBigPlanet, Ni No Kuni just to name a few I can think of.

Valkyria Chronicles its a good choice as well.. tactical jrpg but very different from the usual.

Demon's Souls, the MGS games, and inFAMOUS. If you like old school Zelda, 3D Dot Game Heroes is worth a look. I've only played the demo, but Heavy Rain seems enjoyable as a weird console adventure game.

Of the Killzone games I can only recommend Killzone 3. I dunno if it's exclusive, but Wipeout HD/Fury is a blast. In fact I'm pretty sure Wipeout HD is just free at this point. Sound Shapes seems neat, if you're into creative musical platforming.

Yeah, inFamous is my most anticipated game for PS4 so I'm definitely going to pick that up. Pretty sure I saw a Collection for the first two games. Would you recommend Killzone or Resistance?

And yeah, I saw that SotC and ICO are both free right now.

Hmm, I was always more of a fan of Splinter Cell as opposed to MGS. Might give it a shot though. So the earlier Killzone's aren't that great?

Get the MGS-saga. That thing is fucking gold at 40 bucks. You get all the Metal Gears. ALL OF THEM!

Is it a PSN exclusive or do they have a physical copy. My internet is terrible and I cannot imagine how long it'll take to download the free version of Uncharted which is 40GB :(

I got a PS3 not to long ago myself. MLB: The Show is good if you're into that. ICO/Shadow of the Colossus is cool. You can find MGS 4 on the cheap. There's an HD collection of MGS games too.

Yeah, this game is cool as hell. Very addictive.

I'm sure there's more. I've got my eye on some JRPG stuff that I'm gonna buy soon. Like NI NO Kuni: The Wrath of the White Witch.

@deranged: I'd recommend Killzone over Resistance just on single player alone. Don't know what their multiplayer is like now in terms of players still active but I remember enjoying Killzone more aswell. Also thinking of PSN you've got the Pixeljunk series, Sound Shapes, DYAD, Unfinished Swan, Flower, Guacamelee oh and NOBY NOBY BOY if your looking for some surreal shit.

@wraxend: Yeah, Journey and Unfinished Swan really caught my eye!

Oh and just an odd question I guess, but my controller won't charge at all. I plug in the USB cable and it makes no difference. Tried restarting the console, changing ports, un-plugging and even blowing into it (reppin it old school). I'm just starting to think either the USB sucks or the controller is buggered.

I hear ya. Splinter Cell was always the more self-serious and technical stealth game. MGS was the kinda arcadey stealth game full of melodrama. I dunno, this trailer will probably give you a better idea of what's up. Fancy words, philosophical one-liners, gravely voices, some sneaking, some goofy shit, and giant robots.

For me it came down to the sluggish aiming in Killzone 2. Really hampered my experience. The story's also kinda uninteresting, and Rico is one of the most annoying characters in any video game I've played. They got it all right with Killzone 3 though. I don't play much multiplayer, but I did dabble in some KZ3 multiplayer and had a good time.

Valkyria Chronicles is always the first recommendation. Three of the four DLC packs are great.

Motorstorm Pacific Rift if super fucking great, especially if you got someone to play with. The series peaked with the DLC. Everything after that was downhill.

@deranged: Yeah either the controller or cable is broken, if you've got another usb to micro usb wire check it with that.

On the European PSN store there's a bundle of Infamous 1&2&Addon for like 20 something bucks. Dunno if it's on the US store too.

Resistance 1 is kinda boring, 2 sucks, but 3 is a must-play. It's great.

My best suggestion is to get Playstation Plus. Right now Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Saints Row: The Third, XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Kingdoms of Amalur are all free, plus a few other not as exciting games. Definitely worth it, just spend $50 or whatever and get a year, its a great deal.

Yeah, I heard that was the biggest complaint from Killzone, focusing on the controls. I mostly picked up the PS3 to play exclusives anyway so I guess I'll find the time to get around to it :P

@deranged: You should really play The Last of Us. I liked all of the Uncharted games but never thought they were great and I had the same expectations going into Last of Us but there is no doubt that it'll end up being my GotY. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least.

That's a great recommendation! Of course, I still have yet to play the Uncharted games but I love the apocalyptic setting and the multiplayer looks really fresh and unique!

@deranged: every game except MGS1 and the VR missions are on the discs. Those are about 300-500MB each. Not really that big

Yeah, I'm picking up a PS4 next April when I'm finished my Winter semester. I would get it alongside my XONE but the launch line-up isn't too appealing (Looking forward to Second Son the most).
