So my cousins swears by it and says that PS3 is only good for Blurays and that video games are a bonus.  The system has been out for 3+ years and it has excellent of games.  He swears he is a gamer but he only owns bearly any games and thinks The Bourne Identity is a good game.

No its not just because of bluerays. If he really meant that he would just own a blueray player.  
 
I think of it as a game system with the added bonus of a blueray player. 

Look I only use it everyday for blu ray movies. I don't think that means everyone else is like me however that's what I use it for.

I'll humour this topic as i think it's just an incitement to riot. I'm an xbox 360 user by default but i can honestly it just doesn't matter at all. i've put in a couple hundred hours with a PS3 and a couple thousand with my Xbox. The consoles are essentually identical in functionality and gaming performance. 
 
The only real difference is I would say the online aspect of xbox live is more matured (in the sense of performance) and the Playstation 3 is more suited for a home theatre set up.  
 
If you're a hardcore gamer like me, you probably already have both or have made an informed decision on their console. 
 
If you're me, you've already gone back to your PC and started up Starcraft 2.

I have hardly touched my 360 since getting my PS3. I only get exclusives on 360 now, and I'm thinking, not even that now.

i own a 360 (on my 3rd) and a ps3. i mainly get games on the ps3 unless its a multiplayer and  i know more people on the 360 getting it. or the game is horribley ported (mafia 2, bayonetta.) ive got around 40 blu rays, blu rays is definitly a big bonus :)
