PS3 Price Drops Tomorrow, Slim Redesign Coming Soon
Well, it looks like the retailers listing a Slim PS3 were right. Sony has announced that redesigned, 33-percent-smaller PlayStation 3 hardware will be available worldwide by September 1. It will come with a 120GB hard drive and will run for $299 in the US. That'll translate to 299 Euros and 29,980 yen in other regions.
Prices on the existing PlayStation 3 hardware will drop tomorrow.
Other announcements revealed by Sony in Germany this morning include a digital comics reader for the PSP (with Marvel Comics supporting the service), and smaller downloadable games for the PSPgo launch called "PSP minis." For a blow-by-blow look at what happened when, check out Joystiq's live blog.

Well I bet alot of places will clearance out the PS3 Huge then. Good time to buy if you're in the market for one.
"The PS3 slim is being mobbed like Keeley Hawes dipped in honey and handing out free fags." I CONCUR!!!
great, now I gotta try and sell my 40 GB for a little more than half of what i got it for?!?!?!?! Since no one will buy it for more than $200 probably. This F***in sucks and rocks at the same time.
Cool to hear confirmation, 120GB HDD on the thing is a nice surprise though, I'd still want to see if this redesigned model will still accept any laptop HDD's however.
Good work Sony. Great job getting the price down, the system smaller and the functionality the same. Really wish them every success with the PS3 this holiday season. It's had a rough ride and, in my opinion, I don't think the past year has been justified. Sony have been making strides and I hope this convinces a few more people to try the system out.
That's enough to get me buying a PS3. No, wait, I still need an HDTV. (I'm not saying it's necessary, I'm just saying it's necessary to fully enjoy the system.)
Ooh! It's shiny and new! Buy! Buy! Buy!
But seriously... I'm good with the giant one on my entertainment system that I haven't touched in months.
I was hoping this would be announced sooner or later and I'm very happy it's sooner. I'm very curious about the motion controller announcement they're gonna make at TGS? The only thing they could possibly say is a release and possibly its design. I highly doubt they have an actual game to show off with it. But I'm excited nonetheless.

other, more content filled, pictures.
Looks nice. 30% lighter and smaller is good, but more than 30% less power usage means a lot to certain people.
It's a bummer that I got my PS3 only this summer for 400 bucks. :/
