It's also a name that is now tarnished with too much bad press. Between the price at launch, the lack of sales for the first few years, and the massive hacking problem they had, the PlayStation 3 has soiled the name. They NEED to rebrand at this point. It gives them a chance at a complete refresh.

Despite all of that, though, I will almost GUARANTEE that they keep the same controller.

I'd rather pay 600 bucks for the better console....Hey ohhhh not getting into this. But i've played my 360 a total of about 9 times. I play most of the 360 exclusives on a PC and i don't care for halo.

Also the 360 did better cause it has a larger American fan base. Simple as that. More people cared about Halo and Gears. Sony didn't launch with a Crash Bandicoot or similar cause it wouldn't of attracted people like a Halo does. PS3 launches with inFAMOUS 3 and Uncharted 4. It'll destroy.

I put 700 bucks into my PC every 2 years, so I don't see the difference of paying 600 bucks for a console that'll last me til its a thing of the past. It's different when you are young but when you have a job and can put savings away for this big thing, it's a non issue. 600 bucks for the console, 120 for 2 games, another 100 for warranty (esp with YLOD and RROD, it's worth it now). Something that'll get a good 6 years out of it. Put me down for one.

The PS3 and 360 are neck and neck in total console sales. So I don't see what you're trying to get at.

I think they would definitly hurt themselves by trying that pricepoint again. Remember, PS3 came off of PS2's tail, the most successful system ever. (I would say that) people were far more glassy-eyed over that next generation system than folks are today over the 'ps4'. Also, there wasn't a recession eating into the pockets they way there is today. Finally, Microsoft has a wider user base and I'm sure if people had to choose one or the other on name alone, the ball would be in xbox's circle.

That being said, I think both Sony and Microsoft are going to have to be careful about their pricing. I am definitely impressed by how much they have been able to get out of their systems, and I don't know if they need to produce the sort of powerhouses they did for the current generation.
