A giant, multinational pharmaceutical corporation that produces many daily use goods as a cover for its primary focus; the production of biological weapons. The source of some of the most deadly viruses found in the Resident Evil series, Umbrella Corporation and its backers are among the franchise's core antagonistic forces.

Sliding Down Ladders

When a character grabs a ladder and slides down it instead of climbing down.

United States Air Force

The United States Air Force was created in 1947 after WWII ended and they first saw combat in the Korean War. They are the main airborne force for the US Military.

Characters who speak with a Chinese (or similar) accent.

Portal

A portal is a hole in reality connected to another hole in reality, whether magical or scientific in nature, that allows a person to instantly travel incredibly vast distances simply by walking through one.

Cross Culture Language Skills

Characters that do not speak the localized language within the context of the game. An example being everyone in Persona speaking English while the story states that they are speaking Japanese.

Farming

Farming is the act of growing plants and raising animals for food.

Dashboard View

Dashboard view puts the player in the helmet of the driver. Usually in cars or other vehicles. Most commonly in next-gen racing games and shooting games which have vehicles

Ultimate Weapon

A powerful weapon often found near the end of the game that is significantly more powerful than other weapons. It can also be the last weapon in an RPG game that does drastically increased damage compared to previous weapons.

Penalties

Penalties are most commonly found in sports game. Penalties usually result in a loss of yards, free kick or a free shot against the team/player that was penalized. In special cases, the offending player(s) may be ejected from the game.

Fodder Enemies

Fairly weak enemies (not specific characters) that go down in a couple shots or swings, but will keep coming in droves.

Water Element

Describes magicians using the element of ice. It's also valid for beings distinguished by elements, like dragons.

Motion Comic

A variation on the comic cutscene, motion comic is used as a more streamlined narrative medium reaching an effective balance between static comic panels and full blown CG.

One of the most controversial aspects of video games are the amounts of virtual murders that can vary from over-the-top to uneasily realistic. These games become notorious when they are linked to a murder, usually a spree murder, by the person who plays them.

Backstab

Backstab is a skill utilized most commonly by rogues. By attacking from behind an opponent, backstabs significantly increase the damage dealt. Sometimes a backstab can mean a one hit kill.

From shields to car doors to entire vehicles, and even people, portable cover puts a unique twist on the cover systems commonly found in modern action games.

Sleeping Enemies

Some minions will grow weary of constantly waiting for the protagonist, allowing said protagonist to sneak past the obstacles or catch them off guard.

Grenade Indicator

A method to clearly show the player live grenades near them. Usually displayed on the HUD.

Boss Killing Their Henchmen

During boss battles, sometimes the boss kills their own henchmen. This concept is often used as a way of demonstrating a boss' wrath.
