So I never had a Playstation growing up, and have been eyeing the PS1 Classics on PSN for awhile. Now that I'm feeling sick and just want to veg out while drinking a ton of vitamin C stuff, I'm feeling pretty inclined to buy one. My only problem is I'm not really sure which ones are really worth buying, so I'd like to turn to Giantbomb for help: which PS1 games are the best?
The only two PS1 games I've ever played are Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil, so I'm pretty much open to all suggestions.
EDIT: North American here.

Best PS1 Classic games on PSN?
Silent Hill, Parasite Eve, MediEvil, Resident Evil 1&2, Final Fantasy if you're in to RPG's, Twisted Metal 2.
Appreciate the mention still because that game is great.
@Doctorchimp:
I've heard great things about Xenogears (and then been told the second half sucks or something). I find it interesting you picked FF IX over the commonly lauded VII. Is IX really the better game?
Also, is the first Dino Crisis any good? I remember being told one of those games was good. Hm. I think I'm going to have to start making a list for these suggestions.

DESTRUCTION DERBY!!! I got it with PS Plus, and it's awesome! Also, RE 1,2,3, Silent Hill, Crash Bandicoot series.
Oh god...it didn't hold up well, but back in the day that game was the bomb.
Also all of the Spyro games are great
Well my memory on Xenogears is shaky at best, I remember liking it when I was like 8 so you'd be best to talk to people.

I chose IX over VII because that's my favorite FF on the PS1. FFVII is fine for what it is, but the graphics aren't as stylized and it looks kind of ugly. I remember thinking it was kinda ugly when I played it for the first time even. I also really didn't like it that much. FFVIII I didn't like either, that game is garbage. From the story to the graphics to the gameplay. Drawing magic and playing triple triad wore me out.
FFIX not only benefits from being a later release but the graphics are stylized so you can still appreciate it. It's colorful, great looking and it mimics the Super nintendo era of Final Fantasy.
Soul Reaver or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are probably the best games not counting MGS.
Unless you want a jrpg, FF9 is the best. That guy is a Doctor, listen to him.
Oh Soul Reaver! I remember seeing ads for that game (along with some other ninja game where you where purple and the ad would just show broken bones via xrays) in my old EGM magazines and thinking I had fucked up with the N64, but then I'd turn to the next page and see something about OOT and it'd balance out.
@CandiBunni:
That's quite a list, thank you. I just checked on Mega Man Legends--I've constantly heard great things about it--and it's not on PSN. As if to rub salt in the wound, though, they do have an extensive list of MML avatars. It's on Amazon for 50, but that seems too much. I've been talking with someone I work with about writing a column on appreciating old games (like film) or one exploring/creating a "cult canon" of video games, so maybe if that pans out I'll plop down money for it. Worth it?
You should probably mention if you are in Europe or North America because Europe has way more PS1 games on PSN, or at least they did in the first year or two that they were available. Maybe North America has caught up since.
Oh yeah, one more. Alundra is awesome and on PSN. One of my favorite PS1 games, but it slipped my mind.
It's like the older over-head Zelda games, but more difficult.
Moving away from RPGs, I definitely agree with the people who have said Soul Reaver and Symphony of the Night. Silent Hill and the Resident Evil games also. The first Rayman is on there and it was pretty sweet, although I don't know how it's aged.
Probably all three Final Fantasy series games, 7,8, and 9.
Chrono Cross
Vagrant Story
Xenogears
Final Fantasy Tactics
Obviously these are RPG's so only check them out if you are into them.
