Our long national nightmare of being unable to play Portal 2 co-op on PlayStation 3 is nearly over. (Seriously, it bummed me out.)

Sony has issued a press release detailing a "phased restoration" of PlayStation Network on a region-by-region basis, starting with the Americas, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East. It's unknown if any functionality will be restored today. Sony expects to have PSN restored everywhere by month's end.

The "first phase" will include the following features, as reads the press release:

• Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity services, including the resetting of passwords
• Restoration of online game-play across PS3 and PSP
• Playback rental video content, if within rental period, of PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service on PS3, PSP and MediaGo
• Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity, for current subscribers, on PS3 and PC
• Access to 3rd party services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu and MLB.tv
• ‘Friends’ category on PS3, including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc
• PlayStation Home

I'm tempted to go into Home and see how many people are in it today, people who were waiting weeks to watch ads and dance in a virtual space.

I hope that list is in reverse order.

Ha!  I might actually get to finish playing Portal 2 co-op before leaving for basic next week! :D

I like how we segregate people that enjoy playstation home as if they are another race or something. I was really into it when it came out but it wore off within a month. Never really got into purchasing stuff for my "Home". It has potential but still doesn't have that main stream appeal and the rare times I would jump back in I would find myself spending the majority of the time downloading spaces, giving me enough time to ask myself "What the hell am I doing?" 

Thank fuck they got Home back up. 

Nice to see some progress, let's hope everything works out as planned.

I update but I still can't sigh on. 

Why do people keep saying Netflix on PS3 is down? I've been able to watch Netflix this entire time. It wants you to sign in, then just goes ahead and plays anyway when you can't.

I got DNS error 80710102 now instead of maintenance message.
