I'm thinking about buying a PSP and I don't want the Go, so should I go with the 2000 or the 3000?

PlayStation Portable (PSP) is Sony's first entry into the handheld gaming market. The PSP also sports multimedia features including music and video playback, a photo viewer, and an online store. Several model revisions have been released: the PSP-2000, 3000, PSPgo and the PSP-E1000.
2000 or 3000?
The 3000 supposedly has a more vivid screen but it had these massive scanlines on it compared to the 2000.
Yeah. What erotic said." The 3000 supposedly has a more vivid screen but it had these massive scanlines on it compared to the 2000. "
Also, the 3000 model feels cheaply made to me. One of my friend's little brothers has one. I picked it up and it felt like a cheap toy in my hand.
Just to give you an idea, these are the scanlines I was talking about. (The PSP 3000 is the one at the bottom by the way, though the scanlines aren't that visible from this angle).
" why not get the go i mean it is 250 dollars but it probably is going to have the best screen "The problem with that, is that I want to be able play the UMD's. I know most of the games are on the Playstation store nowadays, but I can find the UMD cheaper than a digital copy.
You're probably better off with the 2000 since finding a 1000 could be tricky (they're very popular with homebrew developers). Also the 2000 is lighter and thinner than the 1000 with some extra (though not very important) features.
" @N3onThr33 said:No, I probably won't hack it." I'm thinking about buying a PSP and I don't want the Go, so should I go with the 2000 or the 3000? "are you going to be hacking it? if so, go with a 3000. It is really easy to hack. "
@eroticfishcake:
Okay, I'll look into getting a 2000, but if all else fails I'll get the 3000 Rock Band bundle. (It comes with the 4gb memory stick...)
A) If I was going to throw down $250 on something, I might as well add another $50 and get the PS3.
B) The $250 us ridiculous for a handheld. (IMO)
C) I want to be able to buy used UMD's. They're cheaper than a digital copy on Playstation Store.
D) It's cheaper than the Go.
E) I believe it can do everything the Go can, except it doesn't have built in memory. Or at least that is my understanding.
=P
The PSP 3000 screen has a wider color range and is brighter, also de 2000 has some ghosting and bleeding, the 3000 is much better in every sense, the scanlines are noticeable only in some situations, I have been playing Disgaea 1 (like one of the screens posted here) and I haven't noticed any scanlines yet. It's true that the PSP 3000 feels like a toy in your hand, that's because it's very light, it feels like the old ps1 gamepads before the DualShock 1 was released.
