    PlayStation Portable

    Platform »

PlayStation Portable (PSP) is Sony's first entry into the handheld gaming market. The PSP also sports multimedia features including music and video playback, a photo viewer, and an online store. Several model revisions have been released: the PSP-2000, 3000, PSPgo and the PSP-E1000.

Did you buy comics for your PSP system? Sony says "Screw you."

Just got an E-mail in my inbox that says their comic store for the PSP is being decomissioned on the 30th of October. Whats worse is that all those comics can only be recovered from your account up until January 2013.

I assume nobody is talking about it since nobody really cared about the service. I maybe bought a couple, but this is already enough for me to be pretty upset at Sony regarding their digital distribution platform. Especially if I'm not getting any refund of any sort. They're not going to bother to expand it to the VIta, they're not making them available anywhere else, and it just goes to show they can't get behind something until it dies out a year later.

    Go to hell, Sony.

I don't see anything wrong with what they are doing, it probably was far from profitable and you have a pretty long period to get your comics. They should open to comixology or similare services if the want to continue offering comics on psp / psp vita

Nyeah, I always presumed something like this would happen, and I didn't think the PSP was a good device for browsing comics anyway. I'd rather buy it on Comixology then and have it on my phone and PC.

You can put them on your PC with Media Go.

They announced this a couple of years ago, which is why there hasn't been any new comics released since that time.

This is why I buy comics through Comixology and then pirate them without feeling guilty about it.

I don't trust any digital archival service to stick around forever.

So is there no way for you to download the comics and keep them?

*facepalm* You know what? I'm starting to feel like a lot of gamers are the type of people who will bring a flamethrower to take care of a spider. You're overreacting a bit there. You said yourself you've only bought a couple of comics on the PSP, and Sony is giving quite a long time for you to download them (and, as other people have pointed out, you can easily back them up onto your computer). Also, who exactly is using the PSP as a comic book reader? The screen isn't really designed for that, and it is just awkward.

So, please, calm down, take a deep breath, and realize this isn't that big a deal.

Which is why the digital revolution (in all its forms) is nothing to get excited about.

Yeah, I kind of figured this was bound to happen. Lasted longer than I would have thought.

Why I'm always hesitant to buy digital only stuff. Which I'm doing on my Vita.

If you buy a movie on ur PS3 from the PSN store you can't delete it because it won't allow you to redownload it. I assumed it was like a game where it goes in ur download history. Nope, deleted a movie to make space and couldn't get it back without paying for it again.
