PlayStation Portable (PSP) is Sony's first entry into the handheld gaming market. The PSP also sports multimedia features including music and video playback, a photo viewer, and an online store. Several model revisions have been released: the PSP-2000, 3000, PSPgo and the PSP-E1000.

What's not working in this PSP?

I've had a PSP (not vita) for years now and a few months ago I tried to turn it on and got nothing, no light, nada. So I troubleshot the issue online and got a new battery, new charging cable and just this week replaced the charging port socket but it still doesn't work. I think suggesting "it's just dead" is a bit of a cop-out. Surely some part of this thing must be not working and often they aren't that hard to fix if you know which bit.

Anyone have any experience with PSPs or this sort of issue? I was certain that it seemed like a power issue.

Do you really need to fix it? A working one costs like $50 here. Something might have shorted inside yours or something.

@audiobusting: Working ones cost about 150 bucks here so if I can fix it with a 10 buck part I'd rather do that.
