@AhmadMetallic: We could have both. I like the idea of having that library available on such nice hardware. Why they don't make more of an effort is beyond me. It's tempting to call them lazy, but I'm not sure that's the case.

Sony Makes PSOne Classics Available for Vita In Most Ludicrous Way Possible

No, he's complaining that there aren't any new and original games for the vita. When your most anticipated game for your hot handheld is a remake of a game that came out in 2008, then you have a problem. Not that there's anything wrong with Persona 4 The Golden.
What if the PS3 was just a device that could play PS2 and PS1 games with only barely a handful of PS3 titles? Does that seem fair or right to you? Do you think if the PS3 had only 2 or 3 original, exclusive games worth playing and then all the sudden gained PS2 and PS1 games, we should celebrate saying "yay, more games on the PS3!" Just cause the Vita is a handheld doesn't mean we should lower our expectations for it.
PS1 games are welcome on the Vita and HD remasters are nice, but I expect more than remakes and releases if I want to feel justified in my vita purchase. Currently, the only game I'm playing on my Vita is Tactics Ogre and Sound Shapes, and I don't even need a Vita to play those.

Question is, does the Vita have enough original/new titles? Let's say I'm thinking of buying one, am I gonna be playing Uncharted spin-offs and 1996 games?
I can only imagine that offering these games on the Vita store isn't in the contract Sony has with certain publishers. As the contract is altered they'll start to publish them on the Vita but until then it's workaround city.
I just don't get it and I'm not going to pretend I do. Why do people own this bizarre device again?
Maybe I just don't keep up with it enough but it just seems so weird that most of the Vita news I see is about PS1 and PSP games with only an occasional mention of actual Vita, made for the Vita, games.

Because it was shinny and new. Also i need something to do on public transit and phone games don't do it for me.

To play video games? I bought one to play Gravity Rush, which is pretty cool and to play Persona 4: Golden when it eventually comes out.
Yeah FUCK YOU NORTH AMERICA.
You get Persona 4 Arena, we get this. Seriously though, is equality such a hard thing to accomplish?
What a slap in the face for Vita owners. They have been talking this up on the PSBlog for weeks, only for this to be the result. What a sham, complete farce.
Am I crazy for only finding eight supported NA games on the list?
-Arc The Lad
-Cool Boarders 2
-Final Fantasy VII
-Jet Rider/Jet Moto
-Syphon Filter
-Tomb Raider
-Twisted Metal
-Wild Arms
What's the ninth?
OK I'll address this.@Vegetable_Side_Dish said:

I understand. There aren't as many new games as we would like. That doesn't mean there aren't any cool original titles coming for it. Gravity Rush, Ragnarok Odyssey, Soundshapes and Dokuro are all cool as hell and original. I'm looking forward to Tearaway, that new Assassins Creed, DJMAX finally with touch support, Phantasy Star Online on a handheld AND Soul Sacrifice. They're ALL games I can't find anywhere else, apart from PSO2, but having that on a handheld is justification enough for me. These may not be the caliber of a new console launch but you've got to remember that handhelds are having a rough time right now, I'd say the 3DSes library was pretty barren in terms of good original titles for just as long.
Anyway, I think that was what he was complaining about, but you've gone and used his complaint to state a proper argument and state it well, which is good. Him though, he just got on my nerves is all, I see lots of people bitching (rightly so) that they want PSOne suport already and Sony is so stupid for delaying it so long blah blah, now that they do people use it as a platform to say 'baaah Sony just want us to buy old games on their new system' blah blah. Just a cheap excuse to hate, in his case.
Makes a refreshing change then! i had to w8 2-3 years for Pandamonium on PS1 classics here in the UK!

I always feel this is blown a little out of proportion. To say that there is nothing is a bit of a stretch. There are several games that aren't ports or remakes, like WipEout 2048, Hot Shots Golf: World Tour, Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Resistance, and more. Those are all original entries in the series, or in the case of Gravity Rush, it's a completely new and original experience. I really like those games personally and I believe they justify the purchase of the Vita. The icing on the cake is that I can then also get games like Virtua Tennis 4, UMvC3, BlazBlue, Mortal Kombat, Sound Shapes, Motorstorm RC, Super Stardust Delta with extra features to take with me and load up for some quick play. It also doesn't hurt that I can play the PSP games I own digitally, and now the PSOne games as well (though Sony is really taking their Goddamn time rolling that shit out).
If the complaint is that you don't want those "big TV" games, then I understand. The Vita is not your for you. You could probably stick with an Android Phone or iPhone or maybe even a Windows Phone. I personally sometimes want a little something more out of a portable experience, and the Vita offers that. Real fucking games that aren't tethered to a TV and couch. That's what I like, but I have seen and acknowledge that not everyone wants that.
I'm just personally tired of the argument that there are no games: original, good, or otherwise. There are quite a few.
Well, this time the Europeans aren't getting the short end of the stick, but rather the old end of the stick.
Forget Reddit, the most up-to-date list is on the Playstation Community forum linked below.

Don't talk about me like I'm not in the room! (I'm joking).
But yes if you needed me to elaborate, which I don't think I had to because my post was clear enough, MiniPato did a good job saying what I would've said, more or less.
What's this? For the first time in bloody forever Europe actually gets the best deal!
I'd rather have it that everyone gets everything but Europe gets shit on enough.
So I downloaded the 1.80 patch and went to transfer my PS1 games from my PS3 to my Vita, and nothing comes up. Gone into the Content Manager on the Vita and that's all fine, but when I go into the PS1 section, nothing is there to transfer. Am I doing it wrong? I've got like 15 PS1 games installed on my PS3 ready to transfer over and none of them show up. Do I need the file the PS1 file in it's pre-installed form to be able to copy it?

Some really overly aggressive Europeans in this thread. I don't even care about the availability thing, since I own the PSOne games I want on their original disks already, but can't say I've ever cheered at another country not getting access to a game.
Some european users with a sense of humour you mean. This is a little taste of what it feels like to be in the EU market a lot of the time. Take it with good grace, you still get a much better deal over all.

Yes. It's in the instructions. I know we're predisposed to not reading them, but do all us folks in the customer support field a favor and read 'em sometime. You never know how much time you might save!
Most of those games work fine, you just have to transfer from the PS3, it's not a big deal. Except for those games you can't transfer, like FFV, and Grandia. Grandia is sad for me because the vita lets you transfer your saved games which means I should've been able to transfer Grandia, and my saved game, to my VIta. Instead no grandia for me. But so far I got Breath of Fire 4, Medievil, FF Origins, FF6, FF7, FF8, and FF9 on my vita. TONS of gaming content sure, but not grandia. I haven't tried parasite eve 2 yet, but hopefully that works.
Hey Sony!
I hate the things you do.
Hey Sony!
If I could I'd piss on you.
You've got the one and only Vita, that thing you don't support,
You know how to take a process and make it FUCKED!
Peeeee Essss Vita, it's more than dead, it's FUCKED!
P.S. I'm not acutally mad about this, I'm just inexplicably bored at work. Nor do I think the Vita is dead... yet

NOT GRANDIA
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Alright. That's it. I'm officially changing my name's color to green.
@MiniPato: But that's entirely irrelevant to this update. This was done by Sony's emulation and Vita firmware guys, who are not game designers, and bitching that they're doing their job, adding requested and popular features is pointless.
I like how 'ludicrous' translates to 'not available in America.' This type of shit happens all the time vice versa and we don't lose our shit about it.

This! Except we kinda lose our shit over it.
Man, Sony, you're not making it easy for me to decide whether to buy a Vita just for Persona 4 Golden.
Dammit, other than that one game, this thing looks balls out awful, and adding this shit on top of it really pisses me off. I'm aware that there is a simple workaround, but... why? I mean, the 3DS had a slow launch, sure, but it's picked up, and we're half a year deep in this shit pond, and it doesn't look as if we're getting out any time soon.
I was under the impression this device had the power between a PS2 and a PS3, so why not just turn this thing into a portable PS2. Make games 15 dollars each and I will buy a Vita today, probably buy way too many games that I will only boot up for nostalgia reasons like steam. MSG 2 and 3, FFX and XII, Tekken Tag Tournament, Dragon Quest 8, Persona 3, Vice city and San Andreas oh man make this happen Sony!

In my opinion, no. I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone (anyone but Sony, maybe) make that assertion.
I don't necessarily need new IP, though it's nice. I just need games worth playing. Sound Shapes and Tearaway are great examples of using the hardware in original and unique ways, but I don't think we should count out titles like LBPV and AC3:L (provided those end up worth playing) just because they're not new IP.
Point with the PSOne stuff was just that this was a VERY easy chance for them to add quite a bit of value in the eyes of some owners (and potential owners) and they completely bonked when it came to North America.
