I saw Fall Out Boy this weekend with Rise Against. Not my choice, but it was a fun show. And that is my field report from Wrigley Field.

@csl316: I saw Fall Out Boy last Thursday with Machine Gun Kelly. Girlfriend's choice.

What an odd pairing, but still fun? I got to see MGK try to talk shit about Eminem live, so that was cool i guess?

Wow, they're even having trouble with stealth in Spider-Man?

Spider-man has the easiest stealth of any game I've ever played. Like, I litterally do not know how it could be made any easier. I guess maybe the one or two final stealth missions reaches the point where it's the difficulty level of a normal stealth game's second level.

At that point, you're basically asking for stealth to be taken out of games like these, which would make me sad personally. I think stealth segments are a fun break from swinging and fighting.

They even timed all the routes so you only have to wait like 1 second before everyone's backs are turned to you. So even lack of patience isn't really an excuse.

@thepotatoman: yeah, I've not finished the game but it is as basic as modern stealth games get so far for me.

also all of the classes in Borderlands 1 were kind of awful besides the soldier turret dude being good and the sniper lady was OK. 2 had muuuuch better variety overall especially after all the DLC. I mean, there wasn't a overpowered turret anymore that numbed the difficulty away, but the gameplay was definitely more varied and interesting. The problem with 2 is that starting a new character was pretty excruciating overall as the opening parts of that game are very boring and dragged out (tried not to use a glacial pun) and really needed a "skip me ahead at least 90 minutes" button.

Destiny starts 39:07, ends 57:19

The usual "I want to like Destiny but they need to fix X Y Z, it could be amazing if they just fixed these, I really want to like it, but oh man, those things, you know", nothing you haven't heard 10,000 hours of already

Mine was also girlfriend's choice (FOB and RA high school nostalgia). MGK played a Weezer song, said he wrote a song inspired by it, and started his song that sounded exactly the same. Honestly, I was surprised by the presentation because there was a full band with decent musicians. But it was confusing, to say the least.

I'm really curious what Rich did 8+ years ago at Gamespot that would justify his termination now. I hope he lands on his feet. I didn't follow GS at all back then, so I don't know what it could be.

Whoa whoa whoa, I work on the floor under Big Huge Games. I thought they just made mobile stuff, what's this about a console game and being related to 38 studios? I had no idea.

@mobiusfun: It's a totally alright actionish RPG as well! Prior to that I think I only knew Big Huge from the Catan 360 game (I think?)

Siren was also super OP in Borderlands 1. I've tried to finish B2 multiple times, but I just can't make it past the first 1-2 hours of that game. I get really bored and nothing hooks me.

As I listened to Rorie talk about BFA, I definitely found myself agreeing. I enjoyed the (Horde) main story stuff, but have kinda hated everything else. The rep grind feels like it's taking twice as long as Legion's, even with all the rep follower missions. It feels like the only reward for doing island expeditions is getting to do them, so I stop after I get my weekly clear.

It really just seems like "Legion But More Drawn Out." And also buggier! I started playing WoW after a long break like a month after Legion came out, and it felt relatively polished by then. But I keep seeing a lot of broken world quests a month after BFA came out, which is kind of a bummer. Maybe I'll check out Uldir in raid finder once all the wings are out, but I'm not that motivated to resub once my sub runs out.

...Which sucks because I bought a game card, so my sub doesn't end until Halloween.

Edit:And sorry for rambling so much about WoW, but the story is just a bummer. Going to war because... the alliance might attack us? Our paranoid, zombie warchief burns down a giant tree and tries to kill all the elves? Yeah the overall narrative just leaves me numb to the story so I don't have that going for me. At least with the REALLY DUMB stuff involving Illidan last expansion, it was at least building up to a logical goal. "DEMON BAD LETS KILL THEM."

@dushanan: I definitely understand that as a Horde player your motivation seems kinda shit at the moment. I definitely think I’ve had the better luck with the arc with the Jaina storyline; have absolutely loved that stuff!

I love how they talk about base Destiny 2 as if it's a shit game, when it was GB's 6th best game of 2017. And it's not like there wasn't competition to get on that top 10 list.

Also, Jeff is crazy; BL2's classes were fine. Especially because IIRC Jeff has spoken in the past about liking Roland, when Axton's turret stuff is way cooler in my opinion. And Zer0 had stealth melee stuff! Not to say BL1 had bad classes; I liked them as well.

Avatar image for bisonhero

@jasperkazai: I'm also fairly certain that Jeff is talking about Borderlands from the perspective of a solo player. Roland was extremely good in this respect since the turret could draw aggro, heal, provide some limited shielding, etc., while in the sequel I think they balanced the class a little better and Axton's turret couldn't really do *everything* because the skill tree made you specialize a bit more. I remember Jeff seeming personally offended that they would do this to his preferred class, even though it was probably for the best overall that the turret class be less OP.

I don't think anybody is going to change Jeff's mind on Borderlands at this point, even if most players don't share his complaints about the classes in BL2.
