I call it OP since I've only passed the first gym and on the way to the second, but every time I see a bloody patrat my pokemans get raped. This happens often as I like to grind before I go forward, for example, level 16 Smugleaf vs level 12 Patrat, patrat uses bide, i'm using tackle, just before it would unleash energy I always have to swap out for a lower pokemon because my smugleaf gets decimated even when it has 4 levels on the patrat.

SO WHEN DO I GET ENOUGH HP TO NOT GET MERKED?! :C

Normal type attacks do no damage to ghost type pokes.

You'll be out of it soon. In the mean time, growl at them or do whatever that isn't an actual attack since Bide's a counter move.

the issue is how much stronger you are than it. if im not mistaken, bide does twice the damage to you that your last attack did to it. so, because its weaker, doing 40 damage is going to screw you over more than doing 20

@Rehehelly: Bide can be powerful, but it can easily be made useless.  Since it deals double the damage the pokemon using it took in the previous two turns, all you have to do is use non-damaging attacks both turns (or if it acted first, don't attack a second time).  If you don't have a non-damage dealing attack, there's always the option of switching out pokemon a couple times.

Just use fucking Sand-Attack. What is this, Pokemon Red, when no one knew how Bide actually worked?

Don't use tackle, use vine whip or leaf tornado.

Also Bide totally hurts ghost types, so ignore the advice about that.

As the others said when opponents use bide, use non-damaging moves. It will give you an extra leg up in battle while causing the enemy Pokemon to entirely waste their last two turns.

    Make your pokemon stronger.

I usually get out of the first gym at level 25, as I like to grind like a motherfucker.

Either use the don't attack method or make sure to kill it before it can unleash its energy. It's good to have a fighting Pokemon for this.

Just dont attack it. It's not over powered, it's your own fault for how much damage it does.
