The Pokémon franchise has spawned numerous titles and spin-offs, spanning several generations of games and has an animated series that spans many seasons.
Which Gym Leader Type would you be?
This is the REAL poll! Again, sorry about my previous hiccup, everyone. It's hard to type while listening to others. @__@
I'm asking this question because I was curious about how any of you would answer it. For me, I would be a Electric-type gym leader because I had a lot of fun with training Electric-type Pokemon in the games. As a stroke of luck, I was also admitted as such a gym leader in my college's Pokemon League (Just to clarify, A lot of people there still play those games back there. ;p ).
I anticipate a lot of people will say fire type but anyone who competatively battles knows Fire is officialy an NU type.
Personally, I would break the mould by not having a certain elemental type but more of a theme with my Pokemon. For example all Human-type pokemon or all purple Pokemon. Changes things up a bit.
Yeah, I like the sound of an all purple Pokemon gym. My 6:
- Nidoking
- Espeon
- Crobat
- Ambipon
- Muk
- Gengar

I like that idea. In the next Pokemon game it would be nice for greater gym variation then just the same types again. I don't know if all purple is the right answer, but something.
@SamStrife: Very interesting idea. Some trainers rather go by colors or forms when it comes to different pokemon, but how it would be determined in the games is still a bit of a mystery to me...
@Canteu: @TaliciaDragonsong: Of course, it always gets worse on the opponent's end when they get poisoned badly unless they have an ability like "Shed Skin". "Synchronize" can also be a problem that affects both parties when the attacker least expects it (Goes for any alignment).

Normal. It allows for more variety. Also... Does Pidgeot counts as normal, since he's two types? He's my favorite Pokémon.
Pidgeot would also count as a Normal-type since they have that alongside the Flying type. Most gym leaders may have pokemon that are their main type alongside another like how Magnezone is an Electric and Steel type.

Ghost, motherfucker because Gengar is a king among Pokémon.
hell ya!
suprising amount of people went with ghost, which is what I when with. Gengar murders the original Elite Four.
i want my 3d pokemon!
I picked psychic because I always liked the psychic/ghost kinds of pokemon, but if I was a gym master I hope I would be the smartest one and actual make a roster of balanced types, not just one type that gets taken out by one counter pokemon.
I was actually a gym leader for a Livejournal Pokemon League around Diamond and Pearl. I was in charge of the Dragon Gym.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to make a Dragon centric team without legendaries that doesn't flat out lose to anything with Ice/Dragon attacks? Really fucking hard.

Dragon cause Dragonite and Garados, DONE.
Gyarados isn't a Dragon type, it is Water & Flying, and yeah I know that some dragon trainers have been using Gyarados but it's still dumb >:(
Speaking of dumb, I like Bug-Pokemon, they kinda suck but they look cool.
Dragon because they're the most effective form of transportation (perpetually absent gym leader). You can fly, swim, I guess you can even hop on their back and make them walk, lol.
Flying.
I've always liked the bird Pokemon and there's a good variation of Flying types to create a good team balance.
I wouldn't be a gym leader. I'd be at the top of the so-called Elite Four (which is always the Elite Five because of the champ). That's what using more than one type of Pokemon gets you.
In all honesty, probably Grass at this point, because I don't like my shiny Roserade going to waste. Make it a double battle and she can team up with my Cherrim. Maybe normal for the same reason with a Pidgeot, but also because there's a lot of cool niche normal types to use.
I think I'd have to go with water, but I'd be more than happy to switch to bug or poison.
Any hoo I think my team would probably look something like this:
Poliwrath
Slowbro
Kingdra
Crawdaunt
Lanturn
Milotic

Indeed! I used to be the Dragon Gym Leader for a period on time in my college's league and it took days just to have my Dragon-types reach Level 50 alone.
Fighting type, complete with over the top WWE entrances for all my pokemon!
Blaziken
Heracross
Gallade
Poliwrath
Lucario
Metagross as a shocking ringer revealed mid battle!
