Overview
Named after its engineer, Christophe Marie, the Ponte Marie connects the Île Saint-Louis island with the right bank of Paris. Construction began on October 11, 1614 and finished in 1630, under the reign of King Louis XIII. A section of the bridge, as well as most of the houses constructed atop of it, were destroyed by a flood in 1658. The remaining houses stood for more than a century after, until being demolished during the French Revolution.
