The fundamentals of popping revolve around a dancer quickly contracting and relaxing their muscles. These "hits" are performed to the beat of music as the dancer moves their body to create angles, shapes and poses. LockingLocking was created in Los Angeles by Don Campbell of the Lockers. Often being confused with popping, locking involves the dancer freezing in the middle of a fast movement, holding it for a short period, then resuming at normal speed. This style is characterized by large, rhythmic hand and arm movements and physically demanding moves involving the lower body. Popping and locking are often incorporated together into unique routines and freestyles.
