    It's been bothering me since before the site went down;


    am I the only one perplexed that in the end fight, the roof is smashed open, and you can see the moon. This should mean, that the roof is the top part of the whole station. However, in the end cinematic, Chell is taking the elevator several floors up, until she reaches the surface!
    I'm sure this is just an oversight from Valve, since it doesn't really matter, but maybe I just misunderstood it. Anyone else?

    There was a portal in the roof, behind the hole, that attached to a portal on the surface, obviously.

    Actually the Aperture Science superstructure is so vast they have their own little moon, complete with gravity and the vacuum of space. And those stars you see. Yea those are just teeny lightbulbs.

    What are you, some kind of a retarded or something? Everyone knows you can't shoot a portal through a portal. That would cause a singularity of unimaginable scale.

    That's what I thought had happened. That or the room just moved - as soon as I saw the opening where they were moving the room through that vast, open space, I decided to not worry about the layout. In the game itself, it changes at the whim of whoever is in charge.

    It's presumed that Glados' body is stationary and only is housed in one spot, and in this game we see the body in 3 different lairs. I think that's why everyone thinks it's the same lair each time, but I agree with you it looks like a different room.

    But considering how much movement is happening in the game, you saw giant chambers moved around, and shafts of sunlight in the beginning, enough light to grow plants. It's possible that fight was held on the roof and the regain conscious was several layers below where Atlas and P-Body are held

    That gives rise to the question of what exactly the insufferable meme for this game will be. I think Valve handled the cake thing really well with that tiny shoutout on the collapsing door then poof.

    @Bromeliad: I don't think that this game really came with a meme. Valve did say they were tired of "the cake is a lie", so it is possible they tried to keep the jokes in this game at a level where they were less likely to gain a meme status.

    Yeah, Chell gets knocked out when GLaDOS brings her back into the lair and wakes up in a completely different room.


    There's no explanation for how GLaDOS's body manages to get around the facility, but I assume there are some rails and such in place for that.
