Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid last edited by reverendhunt on 07/16/19 09:16AM View full history

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is a sci-fi fighting game developed and digitally published by nWay for the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2019. It was later released for the PlayStation 4 on April 2, 2019, with a PC release (via Steam) still in development.

Based on the studio's previous adaptation of the Power Rangers series (the 2017 Power Rangers: Legacy Wars), Battle for the Grid is a traditional fighting game with tag-team mechanics similar to the Marvel vs. Capcom series. It also features a unique "Mega Assist" system where players choose one of three characters to assist them from off-screen (Dino Megazord, Dragonzord, or Mega Goldar).

While most of the playable characters are based on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series (and its recent comic book spin-off), the game features characters from different eras of the Power Rangers timeline.

The game is notable for being the first fighting game to have complete cross-platform and cross-progression support with non-Sony platforms.

The base game includes nine playable characters, with four alternate appearances unlocked as DLC. More characters and alternate variants will be added as DLC (both free and paid).

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Original)

  • Jason Lee Scott - As the "MMPR Red Ranger". Has an alternate "MMPR Red Ranger w/ Dragon Shield" variant as part of the Season 1 Pass.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Alternate Canon)

  • Lord Drakkon - Has an alternate "EVO II" variant as part of the Digital Collector's Edition.
  • Ranger Slayer - Has an alternate "MMPR Pink Ranger" variant as part of the Digital Collector's Edition.
