So I was thinking the other day- now that I'm stuck on this server with my little brothers who play at a level far more committed than myself, I wouldn't mind doing some raids with some like minded duders when WoD comes out.
While there are a couple Giant Bomb guilds floating about, unfortunately I'm pretty well settled on the realm I'm on, as I imagine most people are after 10 years. Transferring again just isn't really an option given my alt addiction. See reference image to the right. You're looking at $125+ in transfer costs. Oof.
ANYWAY, back to the topic at hand. Luckily the last few patches in WoW have given us a solution with the combination of Flex raiding and Cross-Realm grouping. This can allow us to run a raid group using the forums here to communicate and OpenRaid to run signups and handle the logistics end. No one has to leave their servers/guilds/loved (debatable) ones!
In the event you're wondering about my "bona fides", Diminutus has been my main since Classic/Vanilla and I main-tanked up until Cata. Though he's a Panda now he used to be a gnome, hence the name. I just liked the Panda model/animations and if any RPers gave me any grief I could just explain it away as a Gnomish engineering malfunction. In Burning Crusade I ran a Kara raid group that called ourselves "No-Strat" after I badgered everyone into it- we raided without anyone looking up how to down the bosses ahead of time, going in fresh and figuring it out for ourselves. That was probably the most fun I've had in the game, but I've learned that people have differing levels of patience for those shenanigans so I'm not pushing that here.
So, is this something you'd be interested in? Have any questions? Let me know! Let's kill some dirty, dirty orcs together!
It's like something that would happen if you got super-high.
I might be wrong, but I believe this was more referencing her exploding into a big ball of "smoke" at the end, not the surreal quality of the experience. But you could also sense a bit of relief when it happened and there was something he could joke about.
As a JRPG nut who is also a GB nut, I'm usually more shocked with the gang actually likes something that I like. I come to the site mostly to hear the guys talking about things they're passionate about- which is also why I listen to the wrestling podcast while I have no interest in actually watching any wrestling of any form.
Fellow Matthew. Frequently get the "Matt or Matthew?" to which I don't really care- most folks usually just call me Lighthill anyway. Seems like when you get 8+ males around our age together you end up with at least 2 Matt's, at which point nicknames or surnames just save from having multiple people react whenever you say "Hey Matt".
I find my tastes tend to align with Rorie's pretty frequently so I always get interested when he's on the show. I know he can tend to be pretty busy, but if this was purely a wish fulfillment thing I'd love to have him on there more.
As another person who has never played a Metal Gear game before, I am very much excited. Wait, I take that back. I rented the NES one as a kid, accidentally changed the radio frequency and couldn't figure out what it was, then gave up on it and was totally out of console gaming when Solid came around (too busy chasing "babes"). So this will be a whole new world of references I'll finally understand! Cardboard boxes and exclamation points, HO!
