@kill3rkin3: if you haven't heard the GOTY podcasts yet, they talk about it there. But yeah, with how far they've come since then, I'd be really interested in hearing them talk about it more.
This is one of those game, like Minecraft, where I haven't found a ton of fun playing myself (on my own), but love watching others play, and am so glad exists.
Wow. Definitely not something for everyone, but it hit me in all the right places. I couldn't agree with brads review more. Challenging, but never impossible. Absolutely beautiful.
This is wonderful. I don't think my writing is quite there yet (there's mostly just not much of it), but I am very much looking forward to seeing who you guys pull in.
@acornactivist: Yeah, you're cheap. Not coming at you or anything but an 80+ hour game made by a small group over 8 years at $40 seems ungodly reasonable.
When I stop and think about it, it does. I just have the reaction at first blush. Did the same thing with No Man's Sky the other day, when I realized that it would be a full priced game.
I think @koolaid was on to something in their comment. I think there's just this weird assumption that price is somehow dictated by team size. It makes no sense, and yet I'm feeling it myself. We've been shown time and time again that small teams can and often do make AMAZING, deep games.
This might just win me over. It looks great, and if nothing else, maybe I need to do it for no other reason that to prove myself wrong.
@mikelemmer: NES days be damned, we're STILL doing that. There's still something in my brain that looks at an EA or Ubi game and, I can complain about its design, its DLC, its gameplay, but I never go "Why is this $60?"
Then I see this. I KNOW it's incredibly deep. I KNOW it's designed with intention and intelligence. And I go "Ugh. $40?" And I KNOW it's messed up, and yet I still feel it.
@nemesis2k: I'm with you. I am REALLY interested in this game, but I don't know if I'm in at $40. Which sounds like a crappy thing to say because clearly a HUGE amount of design and work has been put into this.
