Skip to SC2. SC1 is extremely archaic these days. Arguably SC2 is too, but everybody still has a huge hardon for the game thanks to the enormous hypetrain and extreme nostalgia factor from the first game. The oldschool RTS model where you had workers to build/gather, farm resources, build structures to increase supply, and the winner is decided based on who manages their economy better is basically dead. SC2 is the only recent game of that kind, and it's a dinosaur, albeit a very pretty and well crafted one.

The best RTS games currently available are Company of Heroes and World in Conflict. For other PC games, somebody recommended Heroes of Might & Magic 3, and this is something I can wholeheartedly agree with. That game is AMAZING, the pinnacle of 2D strategy games. Beautiful art, amazing soundtrack, compelling gameplay.

You can download the Company of Heroes demo on Steam, and I advise you to do so strongly. But don't just take my word for it:

but he's unarguably one of the most politically and economically smart leaders who ever lived,

"Hitler was a genius" is a myth. He was very good at being a politician, he was NOT good at managing an economy or a war. Germany maintained the outward facade of having a strong economy, with near-zero unemployment and good growth, except they were spending like madmen and driving the country into extreme debt.

 if he hadn't messed with Russia and the US, he'd have Europe.

It's not that simple. Germany was on borrowed time. It couldn't sustain itself economically since they failed to defeat Britain in 1940, so invading the Soviet Union was the most obvious place to secure natural resources from, which they desperately needed. If they don't invade the USSR, it still mobilizes for war and becomes a regional superpower, and now Germany doesn't have any of those resources to exploit.

America was spoiling to enter the war, and had they ignored the USSR they still would have joined in. The outcome of the war would have been the same, although perhaps delayed (but possibly even sooner, lacking resources). Germany didn't have the industrial capability to hold off all of Europe and the United States, even without Soviet assistance. If all else fails, the war in Europe is still going on in August, 1945, and Nazi Germany gets the first 2 atom bombs instead of Japan.

It's because those leaders have been in other civ games, and they don't want to reuse the same ones, over and over and over.

It doesn't really matter.

I have Firefox, Chrome, Opera and I.E. installed.

I use Firefox as my primary, Chrome if FF doesn't work, Opera if Chrome doesn't work, and I.E. if Opera doesn't work and I really really need the page to work for some reason.

You can right click + view image (in firefox, not sure what it's called in other browsers) to see them full sized.

 I did this ages ago for Christmas;

Terrifying.
