This is my prediction as well. Only thing I could see switching on here is Odyssey and PUBG, because Abby doesn't particularly care for PUBG, and they're all positive on Mario. A lot of people on staff fell off Breath of the Wild, and Jeff (at least initially) seemed to have problems with parts of that game, so I don't see it rising higher than 3.

@craigieh28: On a previous podcast Jeff has said explicitly that PUBG is in the running for GOTY because it has a December 20 release date. They REALLY want that game on their list considering they were willing to argue for it on faith that 1.0 release would happen exactly when the devs said it would, essentially “bending the rules” for it to make an appearance. For my money, I’m convinced it’ll take #1 handily, but we’ll see next week after 25 hours of knife-pulling.

I beat it on the wii originally, and just got it again for the PC on release day. That game really does hold up well. Really cool going back through it again. As others have said, the start is slow, but once you get out of the starting village, the game picks up.

@nicksmi56: I've sunk a few hours into it so far. It seems fine to me. Running it at 4K on my 1080 and haven't had any issues. It would be nice if the game ran at 60FPS or higher, but I suspect there's stuff in the code that's tied to framerate, similar to how weapon durability calculations were tied to framerate in Dark Souls 2. I wouldn't write it off immediately.

Just tried downloading and turning on the Japanese voice pack. I usually prefer dubs to subs (I know: I’m a monster), but man, my ability to enjoy this game goes way up using those voices. Highly recommend it

As a Switch owner, if they released new hardware 1-2 years after launch, I would feel pretty burned. I don’t think it’s likely until at least year 3

It’s not great for sure, but as someone who just wants to have the TV running while I’m playing the game, it works fine for me.

I love JRPGs. That and Visual Novels are my two favorite genres. I love anime plot lines and all the good and bad that comes with them. That being said, this game has some of the worst voice acting I’ve ever heard (English, or should I say Scottish) and some of the most generic JRPG character designs I’ve ever seen.

I've had a Switch since day 1 and have maybe plugged it into the dock twice (other than for charging purposes).
