Well just finished the game and I couldn't agree more with how Brad felt about the ending of this game. Before I get into that, how did you guys feel about the game overall and then what you think about the end game stuff?
 
I definitely think that it is a solid Fable game despite some of the stupid UI decisions. I got used to the Sanctuary as a replacement to a standard menu even though a more streamlined menu would most likely be better, but damn I want to have an option to pull up my inventory. I do admire Fable 3's determination to force you to stick to your choices you made by autosaving automatically after your decision and only allowing the one save per hero.  Also the game is still funny as ever.
 
As for the ending, well wtf. The whole shadows are comin' to get you thing was just shoehorned. They suddenly bring this whole evil force that is never explained on where they came from and surprise you with it as soon as you land on Aurora and I don't know how they expect me to give a shit about their problems. In fact I think that the game didn't do a great job about making you care for the people in it. The only person I may have had at least acknowledged was Walter since he was there with you at the beginning. Anyways back to the shadow stuff, they brought the end game sequence on you so damn suddenly that it was bullshit. Like Brad said, they really needed to put in a message or something saying, yo make sure you're done with everything before passing this point. Last point is what the hell is that blind seer doing anyways?! Last I remember she took over the Spire and holed herself up in there and I don't remember the Spire ever being mentioned in Fable 3. 
 
OK this is getting rantish. So ya what do you guys think about the overall game and what are your thoughts about the ending? It is still a solid game with the great British humor and I will continue to rule Albion within a chicken suit.

I was really into the game for the most part, and felt like it was a solid fable game... Until i got to the shadow part after taking the boats. That really soured the rest of the game for me, really wasn't into any of that stuff at all.

I don't see why everyone has such a problem with the last few hours of the game, are you just upset because the decisions you made didn't result in the way that you wanted?  
I felt that the combat was significantly harder than the second game (still fairly easy when compared to other titles) and I enjoyed the story much more than Fable 2. I still believe that Fable 1 is the best of the three but, I think that this was a much better game than Fable 2, in many ways.

This is just speculation, but maybe originally you spent half the game overthrowing the king and the other half as the king, but some development shiz went down and the last half of the game was chopped off. Because if it were half the whole game, it would make sense to start a new story as you would have time to conclude it properly.

Seriously the ending pissed me off, there's hardly anybody left. I didn't want to be a tyrant so to be a good leader I have to sacrifice all of my people?

I actually like the ending. It did feel a bit sprung though. The best part to me was the realization that Logan wasn't a terrible King.

Haven't beaten the game yet but I can definitely see where it's going. I'm glad I read Scooter from 1up's review, so that I knew how the outcome is literally tied to your bankroll (but then, the "projected casualties" loading screen probably would've clued me in pretty quick), and where the actual point of no return is.
 
So far I am a bit disappointed in how binary the king stuff is in the 2nd half. Being a leader of nations can't possibly be as simple as choosing between a glowing button and a flaming button. The upside is that I am still finding myself betraying my morals (I basically turned Aurora into a colony, even though I'm a good guy), but it could've been done way better. So I still think it kinda works as intended, but it does so in spite of itself.
 
No problems whatsoever with the UI, though. It's probably as quick as, say, the Pip-Boy from FO3, just a different presentation. I guess your mileage may vary.

I really felt like the ending just came about too early. The rest of the game was really good, but the ending really sucked because I was so unprepared. I've almost completed it again now and I've got more than enough money to save all the people and be a good king.
 
Edit: Just completed it again. Didn't get knocked out so I got that achievement. Did the final boss in 1 minute 5 seconds.

Overall I like the game as much as I liked Fable 2. And I fucking love Fable 2! Seriously this was a great game. 
I agree that the ending seemed kind of weak but I still liked it. I never had the problem that Brad had but I know what he's talking about and agree that it sucks. I remember thinking to myself at that part "good thing I'm already prepared or else I'd be fucked!". 
  
I loved the part when you go to  Aurora. It was a great change of pace and very well done. I seriously got freaked when going though  that cave. 
I also found Fable 3 to be really funny. All the descriptions for the weapons, clothing, quests, and even achievements were very funny and well done.

• She was the one who told Lucien that the Spire would resurrect his wife and daughter.
• She convinced Logan to turn his back on  Aurora.

I completely agree with the OP (and by extension Brad).
 
Just as I was starting to really enjoy the game... WHAM it just fucking ends.
 
The stuff with Reaver was awesome. Stephen Fry's voice gives my an ear boner.

i played smart the whole game and didn't use guides and all. i invested in real estate early and took my time. i had about 10 mil of my own money to put in the treasury b4 the attack saved everyone!!!

You guys may not care but I'm going to create a bullet-point list of the pros and cons of Fable III because it will make me feel better. 
Pros:

• Awesome voice acting. I remember trying on different clothing just to see what John Cleese had to say about them.
  
• Great humor.
• Missions were interesting.
• Decisions as king had lasting effects and forced "good" players to choose between keeping promises or protecting peoples' lives.
• Combat can be fun and flashy.
  

• No depth in any part of the game.
• When you boil them down, all the missions were "go there, kill that" missions, "Get from point A to point B and kill everything on the way" or worse: fetch and courier missions.
• King's decisions lacked variety, they were either good, bad, or neutral.
• Being king hardly changed anything. You couldn't order anyone to do anything outside of the pre-set decisions mentioned before. Like for instance, this one guard pissed me off and I wanted to fire him, a relatively easy thing to do as a real king but Fable III didn't give you such an ability. Also, I wanted to reverse some of the decisions I made earlier but since I can only make decisions when they are presented to me I couldn't. I was basically a Hero who happened to to wear a crown.
• Ending was short, way too short and way too sudden.
• Combat still lacks any sort of depth and has some nasty balancing issues, spell-weaving was interesting but I would have chose either of the two previous fables' magic systems over this one.
• No loot. What's the point of all these chests and dig spots if all you ever get from them are inconsequential amounts of money, potions, or common gems? Not to mention that the only actual equipment in the game were weapons and there were literally only four types of them and maybe 30 weapons in total.
• Being good gave me this feminine butterfly pattern on my character's face and make-up only made him look more feminine.
• Almost every girl in Albion is ugly, disgustingly drunk, or old.
• Managing property became way too tedious as your real-estate empire starts to expand. I ended up selling all my houses after the end because they just weren't worth the time I spent repairing each and every one of them every few hours.
• No mini-map.
• Yet again, no dragons. I've been hearing about dragons since the first Fable yet we don't even get to see a dragon skeleton through-out the Fable franchise despite them being mentioned over and over again in books, by people and in descriptions.

So I just accidentally finished the game!  
 
I liked it, and I personally feel like there's a lot of replay value in it, but I definitely agree that the ending was a little too abrupt. I was pretty well set up to get money ready for the final attack, and then suddenly it was fight time!  I could have done with a stronger final battle, but I liked the elements it was made up of. I liked that it wrapped up your decisions in the end with each individual group leader, but it didn't feel like I had earned that ending yet.
 
It has the feeling that there was supposed to be much more to the game, and they ended up having to work with what they had. Lionhead sticks pretty close to release dates, so maybe there's some pressure behind them getting their games out right then and there, even if there's more to do.  
 
All in all, I liked it a lot and I'll continue playing it until I get sick of it. I think it's a good game, and I think it's better than Fable II. I hope to see some fun DLC or more games like it in the future, as long as they're actually finished instead of a little rushed :P
