That is so beautiful. Look at that blue. That's the best looking atmosphere I've seen in a video game for a long time. It would be perfect for a Hitman game. Dark, moody, mellow.

Do you think they would do day/night transition in longer rush mode matches?  I think that would be awesome, if not a little over-the-top and impractical.

@thornie: Matches will not be long enough to make day night cycling look good. But I do believe the sun and moon will be map affecting light sources that slowly moves as the match goes on.

My guess is the consoles will play a version that looks like low/medium settings. So in other words a really watered down version.

That isn't simply "eye candy".. sure it looks nice, but that's not why i'm excited. it's not because of how it looks, it's because of how all i've listed/shown above will contribute to an unprecedentedly stupendous multiplayer experience

The first few shots display how fluid the body animations are.. something you only notice in the heat of the battle

There are two theories so far: Either that maps will randomly pick a weather condition and/or a time of day for the map/server every new round, which will add yet another layer to the environment diversity, or that the server admins choose the time of day for their servers/maps (imagine this server name: GamerSpawn 24/7 Midnight Karkand - Snowy)

@Ahmad_Metallic: I know, I also have some 1080p video of the game and pause it, it doesn't look that good when paused. It's true of games with too much effects, lots of ps3 games for example doesn't look good when paused and looks good in motion only. This happens when they lack high rez textures. Looks like it's all in the lighting effects or something.

@HitmanAgent47:  I see... maybe it's the simple fact that it's a video ?when you pause a video, the image just freezes and sort of.. hibernates, if that makes any sense. it just goes dead and looks not so flashy 
 I'm sure if you stand still in BF3 the game won't lack high rez textures, would it? You should know not to judge graphics based on videos 
 
If you can provide a video of a game where you pause and it looks stunning still, i'd like to see!

My opinion is that in motion this is one of the best looking game, but screenshotwise shows the smoke and mirrors, it's not as good as it really seems. It's enhanced by the great lighting effects and motion blur and stuff, but not textures.

Guys, thats quite a bit of nitpicking. Its a great looking game. Probably the best looking shooter ever. I do not know how it compares to other recent DX11 games (Witcher 2). For me it is all about the animations. These already have been good in BC2 but when they adding the FIFA stuf it will be truly awesome.

Also download that trailer above and pause it. It's 1080p. Alot of times ppl with a ps3 said that's not what the game looks like when it's paused, then you find out that's what it looks like and they aren't used to seeing a game paused. It's all DX11 effects, it seems like you don't understand me, so i'll let you think whatever you want. I just make the claim screenshotwise, the game doesn't look as good as in motion and there is no evidence to counter that. I also used a 1080p video to make my point.

Basically what you're saying is that BF3 looks better in motion than any other game, but when we pause the videos, other games look better paused? so.. what's your point? Are we playing games here or watching and pausing videos of them?

@Ahmad_Metallic: I heard that excuse before, I think a game should look good paused and also in motion. My point is if a game only looks good in motion, then it's too much effects, sort of like metro 2033 or ps3 excusives. However it can't maintain the textures detail of a nice looking paused game, its shader and lighting heavy and it's not as good looking as we are lead to believe. This is called smoke and mirrors. But I do think it looks fantastic in motion, about pausing screenshots, I have a hobby of taking screenshots so I would like to at least have the option of having a nice looking game to show off or to talk screenshots in. That's all i'm saying. I never said the game doesn't look good in motion, I think it looks excellent. I was just suprised it didn't look as good when it's paused. Look I have thousands of games that looks good when paused screenshotwise, so I think that's important. 
 
Then again maybe it's a directX 11 thing, it doesn't always look good unless it's in motion. 
 
Look you asked me to defend my position and I did exactly that, now you admit that it looks good in motion and could look better screenshotwise. So I made my point and also of how I myself take screenshots during all the pc games I play. I like strong texture work besides strong lighting.

Screenshots of games before they are released always look nicer then the game it seems, but this game will look pretty nice.
