I've played 200 hours or so of NHL18, and while subtle (and hard to notice if you don't play a lot), the changes this year are really good. Skating is way more fluid and fast, definitely makes both the pace of play and the feeling much better. Poke checks needed a nerf, so I like that they give penalties unless you poke into an exposed stick. Hitting is maybe a bit silly, but functionally much better. Also some good UI improvements in HUT.
All in all definitely not a huge revamp, but very good changes all around.
@therealturk: For sure. Not saying that mechanically these games need to emulate older WW2 games. I just think that D-Day hasn't been done with modern sensibilities and design, and there is still a lot of potential to explore the setting through the lens of games.
I bought this immediately. Reminds me of the Airborn books a bit - I guess just the aesthetic aligned with what I thought those books would look like. Very very excited!
