Thank you for not naming the shooter and thank you for being a voice of sanity in the world. Love you GB.

Why? That just desensitizes us even more. Makes them all run together.

No. What desensitizes us is the 24/7 news cycle that occurs during tragedies like this. If we remember and honor the victims, but abolish the perpetrators into the realm of obscurity it gives them less power. And power/infamy is what they crave. A lot of them come from broken homes or families. If that isn't the case then they come from shit social situations. Whatever the case they're like a rabid dog in a corner and they use this to get out. To get remembered and known, or to take revenge.

There was a BBC interview some time ago with an FBI profiler after an all to familiar sight like this, but in Germany. The guy essentially said to stop making pariah's out of these... savages. Most of them crave it at this point. Unfortunately the CNN's, MSNBC's, and Fox News' of the world can't do that. The second something like this happens they all start to get a chub and get to work immediately on graphics, soundbytes, and researching what the killers had for breakfast that morning. Then it gets politicized where people essentially stand on still fresh graves to put their fucking message forward.

I'm all for making it about the tragic loss of life and remembering the victims. Not plastering the faces of psychopaths or sociopaths on television screens so the next nut that might crack sees it as a way to gain notoriety.

I understand people have their opinions and things like that, but fighting that vehemently for a "dating" game, over legitimately amazing games like Yakuza 0, Steamworld Dig 2, AC: Origins, Nioh, etc, to the point where your coworkers just break the fuck down and give in because they have had it isn't respecting other people's opinions in that room. Furthermore booing Nier Automata because you yourself might have a personal agenda against it is trivializing the opinion of other people that might have enjoyed that game. Furthermore at the end trying to worm Cuphead up the list to the point where everybody else gets audibly pissed off is another thing.

I haven't paid much attention to the site the second half of this year because I was dealing with some personal issues. But... urgh. Maybe that was for the best if this is the direction that conversations like this are going to go. What once were, and still should be, interesting conversations have just devolved into this... shit. What in the fuck? I mean seriously? Booing a fucking game that pretty much everybody in that room liked? Give me a break.

Kinda sad to see Uncharted 4 get shafted based on what feels like the sole reason being that it's a fourth Uncharted game. It looks amazing, plays well, has a great story, likeable characters, etc. Yes it's a been there done that type of thing, but that should hardly be a negative against it since it's very very hard to improve on what was almost perfection with Uncharted 2. As for the criticism that it's just combat zone, platforming, and rinse/repeat that very same argument could be made against Doom. It could be made against almost every game out there now. Just feels like the criticisms are very flimsy just for the sake of being criticisms.

For please stop a few things. Firstly the GB crew shouldn't have this arbitrary thing where they have to give a solution to the problem. That isn't their job. Their job is to point out a problem and for the industry itself to fix it. It's up to publishers and developers to get their acts together and hire consultants to help with solutions. Seemed like Jeff thought they should have to come up with a solution as well. No. The industry created that monster, they should fuckin fix it. Secondly bad PC ports is a problem, but a bigger problem is the shovelware getting thrown out on Steam and Valve's complete and total refusal to be the gatekeepers to their own goddamn marketplace. Think about this, in 2016 ALONE 40% of all of Steam's games were released. Total. 40% of all games on Steam that you can buy on Steam came out in 2016. Shitty PC ports is bad, but holy fuck. When the biggest marketplace on PC gets slammed with this shit it not only hides good games, but brings down the whole system. Valve for years has been hands off but it's time that they get their own shit together and get hands on.

Yeah. I could not disagree more with this review to be quite honest. The story, while it had some good highs, also had a lot of lows caused by the bogged down structure of the game. The idea of going to a place, like the Bathhouse in the Downtown zone, to complete a mission then going back there again to finish the chain is fucking boring. The idea of having to grind out fetch quest missions where you drive from let's say the scrapyard zone that the Irish take over, down to the Bayou to get a pickup with moonshine, then all the way back to where you just were is fucking boring. The lack of a fast travel system through taxi cabs is terrible. It just isn't a fun game imo.

The realistic and proper portrayal of racism in the late 60's aside, which honestly should not be a feather in any form of media's cap it should just be fucking done for accuracy's sake, the story wasn't even that interesting either outside of when you get past the first 3 districts and all the underbosses are introduced. The big bosses of each district had some interesting missions, like Uncle Lou with the riverboat and Green River blasting or the end mission with Sympathy for the Devil playing, but I think that's more because of the excellent soundtrack over the quite honestly middling game that the soundtrack was a part of.

In the day of GTA V, RDR, Saint's Row, hell even Sleeping Dog, and etc. I need much much more from an open world game. I need mechanics that make sense, a plot that isn't hampered by repetitive grinding, and I need a way to get from A to B in the game quickly without having to drive all the fucking time with the end result being me wanting to put a shotgun in my mouth and pull the trigger with my toe. It's not an abysmal game, don't get me wrong, but it's far from being anything revolutionary or innovative either. All this shit was done in the Godfather 2 game last gen from EA, and done better I might add. That game was a piece of trash, but at least it ran with something kinda new, this just imitates that rather poorly.

It looks interesting from what the thing can do, being that it's a home and mobile platform at once. But there are a lot of things about this that worry me.

Firstly is it's Nintendo which automatically for me, given the past two systems, means overhyped and underdelivered.

Secondly is performance. It looks like it supports some advanced games and tech, but also in the video the performance was choppy as fuck. During the NBA 2K17 bit it was very clear, even with the Youtube compression and bullshit, that it was running sub 30. It's almost 2017, I have a gaming PC and a PS4, why is this for me? Nintendo needs to sell me on this system and they haven't so far. I have a phone for mobile gaming if I get the itch for that so I really couldn't care about a lot of that stuff. Their software is typically good but I need more. I need to be wowed for me to even be interested, and nothing really wowed me. It looked like more of the same. Also, yes, graphics and performance does matter at this point in time. Games all generally play the same and the only real difference is what's under the hood, so that's what interests me.

Thirdly has to tie to performance somewhat, and that's developer support. The Wii U had a lot of lip service when it had it's debut but nothing came to pass from that. Developers are already, 4 years into this cycle, complaining about power causing both Sony and Microsoft to release updated systems to counteract that. If this thing is once again the lowest on the totem pole and it causes devs to be hampered by it's limitations why would they develop for it? Why would they willingly choose to be constrained by limited performance when limited performance is already an issue for them?

Dunno. On one hand Mario and Zelda, on the other hand Nintendo and all the fucking bullshit that you have to deal with because of that name. I'll wait and see. I'm most certainly not going to go buy one now or jump up and down screaming, "Nintendo HYPU!" like some people are.

@vucubcaquix: Was he upset about the Jewish slurs in Stick of Truth? Or how they made fun of handicapped people in that game? Or even the black slurs in the first game when you play as a black warrior or thief? I'm honestly wondering. Because if he wasn't then it's kind of hypocritical.

South Park is a known commodity. It's been known to do this for a long time. The Coon character was shown last year when they first announced it. Nothing was said. But now, all of a sudden, stop the fucking presses and get upset about a known commodity that has been doing this shit for over a decade and a half doing more of the same. They make fun of everything. Literally everything. Mormons, Jews, blacks, whites, fat people, skinny people, handicapped people, little people, people from Jersey, Muslims, Buddhists, Scientologists, homosexuals, transgendered people. Everything. There isn't one thing that I don't think they've ever made fun of or satirized in modern culture.

I get that it can be uncomfortable. But standing on that soap box while being ignorant to the fact that they do it to everything else is just stupid. Either it's all okay or none of it is okay when it comes to something like this. People should not get to pick and choose just because they're offended and feel personally attacked. Where was the defense of the Mormons, Jews, blacks, whites, fat people, skinny people, people from Jersey, etc in the past then? Hell they've talked about and joked in the past about Scientology on the Bombcast. Who's to say that that wasn't hurtful to a Scientologist? Where's the outrage about that? Is it because it's a nutjob cult that it doesn't apply? Because again that's hypocritical.

That said the game doesn't look good. Be down on it because of that, not the other fluff.

@boxkev: I think you're misunderstanding or misinterpreting what I'm saying though. On a visual fidelity level they look good, but it feels like the animations of them are making them out to be kind of... tarded. To be not PC and blunt. It's like they're making faces and photobombing the game during serious moments, like waking up from cryosleep after traveling to a different fucking galaxy. I look at something like the end shot of the human that wakes up and compare it to something like Inquisition, which was also Bioware and Frostbite, and it looks weird. It doesn't really look natural.

I'm probably reading to much into it but it's hard not to when this paltry showing is all that we're seeing of this. I'm probably wrong, I hope I'm wrong, because the facial animations in that game and every game add so much life and subtle details to what's being conveyed. But if my first impression is right, and the "DURRRR" vibe is real, then I'll be disappointed.

Honestly though this is their fault for showing next to nothing. Q1 2017 release date and still next to nothing is known about this other than Andromeda Galaxy, which is in the name. I, and I'm sure the majority of other people, would rather see actual gameplay. Actual meat. Compare this to what they did for the first Mass Effect and it's night and day. Sure it's a known quantity by now but that doesn't mean that you sweep it under the rug like this, especially given how bumpy the development of the game has been. It just feels worrisome. The whole thing from top to bottom.
