@justin258: yeah true - but luckily for me, fightcade exists, and Street Fighter 3rd Strike hasn't changed in 22-ish years :) and boy the online play on that is the best I've ever experienced, lag wise and accuracy wise too. Digression aside, I agree, online shooters in general will always have customizations, custom servers, and all that, the unification of which will always be a good thing for the player base - but the removal of content is rouuuuughhhhhhhhhh and whack. real whack.

Maybe this is why I've largely started to distance myself from modern games 1.) because nothing seems to interest me to even pick up these new consoles which is a first, and 2.) because retro gaming is exactly the opposite - the games have been the same for 30,40 years ... and because of that the discussion around them seems fresh, not stale, and exactly the opposite as "closer and closer to real life" you mention. Even with all the glitches and all.... KTL-NAL just got a 800M+ score in DoDonPachi with Type B ship ... now all 3 DoDonPachi ships have 800M+ scores... anyways I digress... that'll never happen with modern games.

... yes there are new hacks and patches (Vitor Vilela's SA1 Patch for Gradius 3 just dropped - now that's an interesting story in and of itself)...

... but very few modern games do developers and gamers "let breathe" ...

For me, enjoying retro games with friends has been so much more fun because you can sit with a game for several weeks and not once have to be distracted to discuss " the latest update " or whatever, look up strategies invented 20 years ago, and compare them with your own you invented a few minutes ago.

I think this is legitimately the first sign I've had that I'm finally getting old and obsolete.

I'm good with it, though. I still play gunfire reborn with friends on weekends and read out the patch notes and laugh and have a good time. Never once played a game of Among Us though.

Got two super important words for ya - input lag

So on a very fast monitor and good PC it can work pretty well, and you can use it as an amp modeler too (that part is fun!), and I agree with everything @ramone said above as well. AND the "AI-based jamming" feature is so weird and kinda fun too!

But on consoles the input lag is just a huge dealbreaker, you'll lose the connection to your guitar sound and you need that as a musician, there can't be any perceptible lag when you're learning an instrument. It's much different than say setting the lag on rock band, it's like as soon as rock band drums goes into solo mode, even if you play your solo perfectly on beat, it will sound way off... it's THAT part that you gotta worry about

its actually like really good.... if you were a kid in the 90s, honestly, play this game. I didn't even do trading card battlers like pokemon and stuff but I still really like this game

Man I played a decent amount of 2020 games but the tagline in this post got me good. Ive cleared out SO MUCH of my retro backlog this year and gotten deep into Shmups - the rabbit hole I fell into this year. Days of Yore indeed!

I got a buncha cool shmups, Jamestown+, Blue Revolver, Super XYX, Alltynex trilogy, Danmaku Unlimited 3 (double dipped have it on switch), Hellsinker, Steel Vampire...

... and EVERYONE HERE who can enjoy a little shmuppy action should buy ZeroRanger, go buy it! It's on sale! hell of a game!

2 hours in, on Xbox One X, TLDR: Consider this game Early Access. Not kidding.

Remember how GTAIV at launch ran on consoles? this can be worse at times, and weirdly super fast in random times.

Mind you im typically a person who gets the good side of a buggy game, I'm usually lucky I guess.

Not this one! And beyond the bugs the graphics are super inconsistent - like a super blurry looking poster with extremely clear sharp 4k looking graffiti on it., and I think the HDR is broken. not sure yet need to tweak. Some street food looks like food, others looks like a GTA4

Glitches: NECKS on EVERYONE for some reason glitch all over the place, like you can see where they just disconnect from the head. its WEIRD. Clothes disappearing in the mirror immediately - thought maybe my character just always wanted to be naked in the apartment. I had to go into inventory and put on new clothes and they came on. Here we go, first time stepping out of the new car in NC and coming back out, car was floating like 10 feet in the air. During a Jackie dialogue in the car somehow the sound glitched and I got echo dialogue. People floating not walking up stairs. A HARD CRASH. But at least that fixed the "cant change the camera in car" bug i was having before. AND the autosaving was pretty good. I just thought maybe the car was only First Person view in the city, maybe a specific choice, nope, bug. Okay and once almost ALL the NPCS started running out of the apartments into the street, it was like a weird mass exodus.

Weirdly in-combat the game doesn't seem to glitch?!?

These were immediate upon booting the game and getting into night city. The density of bugs is incredible.
