@shtinky: It doesn't have to be for everyone (which is to say, don't feel bad that you don't like it). Just don't be the guy who goes into FNF chat being like "drugs are fun, this sucks". That's not Forking at all.
That said, there's always room for more Forks on the Fork Train!
Why were the Tyranids retreating in that Warhammer trailer? Since when do individual minds of the Hive show fear? And also, I know they did Orcs and Chaos last time but there are so many potentially interesting stories to tell about the Space Marines. To go with what looks to be another Forge world getting wrecked by a Tyranid infestation is just lazy. Also, also, what if you took the budget for this and the budget for Darktide and combined them to give Darktide a single player story mode instead of making another generic Space Marine story.
Retreat can equal respect as much as fear. Presumably the Warrior leading that brood had faced such opponents before and knew a 1-on-1 fight would be difficult.
Once the Warrior is dead, the Gaunts' link to the Hivemind is weakened substantially enough that it's perfectly reasonable that they would "devolve" to simple fight/flight reactions until such a time as they came into contact with another Node creature.
As someone who came to know Gerstmann for the first time only after written reviews on this site fell by the wayside, I have to say that his writing voice is crazy engaging. No wonder he was such a big deal so quickly back in the day.
