I'll be honest it's hard to even consider since just getting a Switch and paying Nintendo prices for games is such an expensive endeavour by itself, i still don't have one, the £20 they knocked off recently was nowhere near enough, and i especially would not be interested in some kind of subscription service for something which, as others have said, can be found cheaper and better elsewhere.

That price cut only happened in Europe, to boot.

Why don't I get an option without the DLC? I don't own Animal Crossing and don't plan to. Why should I pay for shit I literally can't use?

Add on the likes of the PC-Engine and Neo-Geo and maybe it's worth the new price. But not as it is. Not even fuckin' close.

I thought Far Cry was pretty serious about how genetically altering beasts is bad.

So you're saying that FC protags need to rise from their graves?

Personally, I have always believed that a Fall Guys crossed with the violent sensibilities of, say, Mortal Kombat, is inevitable.

The spotlight that Squid Games currently has may speed that up, but I think it was gonna happen regardless.

I like listening to the crew shoot the shit about almost anything. I barely even have time to devote to video games anymore, but I still come back here because I like the GB folks and I like the ways they connect with each other.

So, for me, the topic they're discussing matters very little. I just like it when 3 or more of them sit down and pour over a subject, be that a video game, a meme, an album, whatever. It's single-person streams that don't work as well for me, but I'll still put on a Garage Talk or similar for background noise and to see what weird shit Jeff can pull out of his proverbial hat.

But ultimately, just like Nextlander, GB is just a group of people that I enjoy spending virtual time with; I want them to succeed at whatever they do and I want them to be happy while they do it. I'm blessed enough to be able to support them financially, and so that's what I'll do for as long as GB is out here doing its thing in a way that the crew looks/sounds like it is enjoying.

Maybe I'm just an easy lick. But there are far worse folks to be a lick for than Gerstmann, Bakalar, et al.

@nicksmi56: Maybe I’m just sensitive to it. I can generally pick up on the drop when it hits ~27fps (armchair science to arrive at that number, to be clear). It didn’t break my experience, but it did harm it.

To the original point, I just think what Nintendo is doing here is a little fucked. Joy-con drift isn’t addressed by this revision, nor is the 6 year old chip driving the thing. $350 is an unreasonable asking price.

@nicksmi56: I mean, I know you aren’t wrong. Most people don’t care. But in 2021, whatever Nintendo is selling for $350 should be capable of at least running Breath of the Wild at a solid 30fps. And yet, here we are.

I don’t expect better from Nintendo, but I do hope for it.

@nicksmi56: Problem is that some games already run poorly on the Switch. Even first party games.

The chip inside these things is absolutely ancient at this point. The OG Switch should have come down to $250 and this one at $300.

This is a really, really hard sell for me given the meager improvements.

Oh well, I tried.

I think when people started ignoring Vinny on this one, it was time to just hold our hands up and let the nonsense play out.
