Best Arcade Game You Can't Play at Home - Tokyo Wars

One of the best arcade games from my childhood (besides the king of coop Konami 4 player games) is Tokyo Wars by Namco. Tokyo Wars was a 3D tank simulation game where your squad of 4 tanks would battle enemy tanks for control of downtown Tokyo. What made the game great that 8 machines could be linked together to make a 4 versus 4 team deathmatch of Red tanks against Blue tanks. Driving around in urban environments in arcade cabinets was a great feeling. Especially since you could rotate the turret and continue to drive in a specific direction. Also, little touches like cars you could crush with your tanks and your tank was too heavy for some ramps (causing them to crash to the floor below) added weight to your vehicle. Never ported to home consoles and there was never a game that came as close to simulating the tank on tank action. Maybe one day Namco will port it in some sort of arcade classics collection but nothing ever beats paying a few tokens to drive a tank in downtown Tokyo.
