Ranking the Tales Protags in Terms of Canonical Power

List items

  • Tales of the Rays draws from all of the other Tales games and even some other franchises during crossover events. Gacha elements woven into the plot again so these two are above any protagonist including Allen since he's also just another summonable character. If you count crossover events, then they scale to Lina Inverse from Slayers who has access to the Giga Slave spell which briefly channels the power of the Lord of Nightmares ( a nigh-omnipotent being).

  • He has a similar deal to the Tales of Link protagonist, but since Crestoria is still quite a new game, we can't really say for sure where he stands between these last 3 spots.

  • Crossover title with gacha elements woven into the plot. The Savior (or Allen) would most likely have to be above Ludger by the end of the story.

  • Chromatus power directly comes from Chronos, the primordial summon spirit of space and time. At level 2 Chromatus, he was already above the entire Xillia 1 cast as well as Gaius and Muzet. Level 3 Chromatus allowed him to overcome Chronos and complete Chromatus made quick work of Bisley who was comparable to if not stronger than Chronos.

  • Shares essentially the same feats as Jude except that she becomes the new Maxwell at the end of Xillia and ascends to true spirithood.

  • He managed to punch the primordial spirit of matter and energy, Maxwell and sent him flying. Maxwell is on a similar level to Chronos and Origin who were universal forces in Xillia lore. Also defeated Gaius and Muzet who were vastly stronger than Maxwell when combining their powers.

  • Julio Sven and Caro Orange both scale to the casts of Phantasia, Destiny 1 & 2, Eternia, and Symphonia. Thus, as the protagonists they should surpass the power of Aurora, Eternal Sword, and Swordians.

  • The twins, Dio and Mel managed to overcome the spirit of the Derris Kharlan world tree, Norn as well as defeating all of the other summon spirits. They both scale to the Phantasia cast and likely surpass Eternal Sword Cress.

  • Wielder of the Eternal Sword, but with much greater proficiency than Lloyd. Also fought and defeated all of the summon spirits as well including Origin. Fought and defeated Dhaos who is comparable to Mithos.

  • Fought and defeated all of the summon spirits including Origin, who created the Eternal Sword which commands space and time on (at least) a planetary scale. Defeated Mithos who was also more powerful than the spirits and split the world in their own separate spacetimes. Wielder of the Eternal Sword.

  • The human incarnation of Ratatosk, summon spirit of the old Kharlan Tree and lord of monsters. Scales to the Tales of Symphonia cast sans Lloyd with the Eternal Sword.

  • Frayne K. Lester is the descendant of Klaus F. Lester and also an adept summoner. Scales to the Tales of Phantasia cast, but probably not the Eternal Sword.

  • Asbel wields the photon powers of Sophie and defeated Lambda who was a world ending eleth (energy) draining entity (think Lavos from Chrono Trigger). In the future chapter, he wields the power of Lambda as well. He used this power to fight stronger enemies, defeat the Phodra Queen, and absorb the majority of her power as well as most of Fodra's energy and the heart of the planet (essentially the planet's "subconscious").

  • Reid fought and defeated all of the summon spirits including Sekundes, the summon spirit of time. He also wields the power of Seyfert, the god of light (and creator of worlds) which is also known as the Aurora power.

  • Wielder of the power of Lorelei, hyperresonance allows him to manipulate and destroy all forms of matter on a fundamental scale.

  • A Lord of Calamity herself, she used her demonic power to defeat Artorius who achieved immense power through armatization.

  • The legendary shepherd who defeated Heldalf, the Lord of Calamity. Also has the ability to armatize (fuse) with seraphim and reach greater heights of power.

  • Managed to defeat Duke who wielded Dein Nomos, a sword capable of directly manipulating aer (basically the very essence of the world). He also wielded the Brave Vesperia no. 2 which is similar to the Dein Nomos in capability and was also able to destroy the world ending Adephagos.

  • The son of Stahn, defeated the ancient warrior Barbatos who slayed his father, also defeated a powerful goddess all with his own power and no special artifacts.

  • Wielder of the fire swordian, Dymlos and slayer of Miktran who wielded the power of the Eye of Atamoni which was capable of powering entire floating continents and manipulating matter on a fundamental level.

  • The reincarnation of the godly being, Asura and a powerful swordsman who defeated the world destroying Matthias.

  • A powerful Somatic with strong light and lightning based skills. Some soul manipulation involved as well. Scales to Ruca due to Triverse.

  • Fought and defeated an alien of great magical power drawn from an extradimensional source. Has a beast transformation. Also scales to the next two protagonists due to Triverse being a thing.

  • Bearer and master of the ice force. He defeated an ancient world destroying beast composed of the collective negative emotions of the world.

  • An alliance marine who fought godly beings with his own hands. A true master of iron eres and being able to utilize throw eres.
