I played the remastered version and I don't remember a thing about it except being on top of a black castle as a wolf. Normally I remember almost of all of a game I've played. So... I take that as it being unmemorable. I probably wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't called Zelda.
@undeadpool: I see what you're saying. I wasn't surprised but I feel like it could just be the winds of fortune. It could have come out on a different day and people run with it. It has quite a niche audience and I feel like the people in to it are in tune with its Japanese origins.
Also, I've been watching streamers play (for a game I've played, I know, I'm sick) and they were very taken aback by all the racism and never got used to it. I think it added a lot to the game even if they do try and wash it away with "oh but he was personally slighted by a Japanese man so it's ok".
Despite there being 11 Ace Attorney games it never feels like there's enough of them and I always crave more. After Great Ace Attorney Chronicles I no longer want another Phoenix Wright game. They left it in a good spot. I want more Great Ace Attorney
@undeadpool: I think a lot of that is covered because it is Japanese developers writing racism from outside towards themselves. It would be so different in any other context. I have read that the translation is more accurately "oriental" whenever they say Nipponese but that was considered too much and was compromised to Nipponese in localisation.
As an Englishman, it is more than OK to portray the British Empire as racist. Their arrogance is a huge theme in that game. I'm not 100% on the term shylock but wasn't that just a term for money lender at that time? Though, yes, in typical ace attorney fashion the Irish character is a walking stereotype.
