Hopefully Norway is one of the 24 countries with preorders, because I've been waiting for this since dactyl nightmare and I already got my 980ti ready.

Looks like Firewatch is pretty much exactly what I hoped it would be since it was announced.

I miss 3D movement in space games. :C

Never heard or seen any of the more recent space games and remasters huh? :p

Seriously, 2015/16 is a great time for space stuff. Elite, KSP, Rebel Galaxy, Homeworld, Planetbase, Evochron, Limit Theory, Space Engineers, Star Citizen, No Man's Sky etc.

Holy crap, I didn't even know there was a new Evochron out! Should be downloaded in an hour or so, thanks for the heads up.

I feel like the trailers show a lot of the vertical gameplay that this Quick Look didn't get to. Not sure how much of that there actually is, but it gave me the impression that it was a big part of the gameplay.

I haven't played it but it seemed like Brad had already written the gameplay off before the video was 5 minutes in. The game is still giving tutorial prompts and all.

No big deal. Someone on staff will likely dig a bit deeper and see if there is any more to how this game plays.

There are several more specials you can learn, and I don't think the guys ever pulled off a counter by rolling just before an attack hits, not even sure they noticed the prompt on the screen.

But at least for as far as I've played (about 7 hours now) it's not as mechanically complex as Zeno Clash 2 with it's combo system, or Abyss Odyssey for that matter. I've been having fun with it throughout though.

Didn't the Double Fine guys also had the stop-motion idea way before this game? Weird hearing them talk about it as if Ace Team came up with it first.

Yeah, Double Fine already did the stop motion idea with Brazen.

I still play the Brazen prototype regularly. It's a damn crime that never got turned into a full game. Beerzerker for life.

That game had a lot of potential. I will say the character models in Tower actually look better than in Brazen. They lean into a plastic or quality that makes them seem less like polygons and more like models which is something Brazen really lacked.

First time I saw the bats in the game I nearly spit coffee all over my monitor and keyboard. I fucking love those things.

I really like this game. Some of the best narration in a good while and the whole set up is great. Especially if you're a fan of old sci fi b movies.

Does it stay kinda spread out? It felt like he was almost tripping over his own lines at the beginning of this and it got a bit better near the end. If the latter is more the norm then it's probably fine.

Yeah, I've enjoyed it so far, it's pretty well done. Sometimes if you happen to trigger a random piece of narration right before hitting a scripted trigger it can become a bit crowded, but it's not something that's happened all that often to me.

Psst, Nitroplus is a porn game company. They make porn games. Like half of these characters are from porn. Saber? She's also technically from a porn game.

Nitroplus+chiral blasterz when? lol

They make visual novels. Some of these contain sex scenes. That doesn't make them porn games in the same manner that a movie like Porky's or American Pie aren't porn just because there are breasts in them.

If Porky's and American Pie featured hard core fucking that'd be a more reasonable comparison.

confounds me that someone like Jeff takes the time/effort to acknowledge/learn what sort of depth and nuance is present in a game like this while also completely disregarding the same potential of a Smash Bros type brawler. he has quite the hard on for traditional TF games, god bless him -_-

Thing is, once you know how to play street fighter and GG and similar, playing this game at the level Jeff and Jason are here is basically free. You select a character, do the motions and hit the buttons for 4 minutes, and then you can play the game.

For Smash, none of that basic knowledge transfers, so you need to spend a LOT of time to find any of the depth. For this, the only obstacle is not throwing up in your own mouth from how anime it is, you know?

Great podcast! Thanks!

God I need to play Planescape so much but also I feel like it'd be a disservice to myself if I didn't play the Baldurs Gates and Icewind Dales before I got to Planescape.

I don't know that there's a distinction between best and favorite. I feel like trying to search for a "best game" is ill-conceived in a lot of ways. I think Greatest may be more apt than Best?

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are both fantastic games, but they're very different games from Planescape: Torment, and I don't see why anyone would enjoy Torment less having not played those games first.
