OH WAIT, are you ONE OF THOSE "the last year of the decade is actually the 10,20,30, etc?" BECAUSE I never fuckin UNDERSTOOD those people. ALSO, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE to judge the GAME OF THE Decade UNTIL at least a decade later WHEN EVEN THEN won't videogame's reliance ON TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESSION CAUSE any "game of the decade" to appear to have AGED FAR MORE than any other COMPARABLE art/entertainment form? IT'S A TRICKY fucking thing TO DO.
MORROWIND definitely had IT'S PROBLEMS, AND I'D agree that it GETS REMEMBERED a little too FONDLY. HOWEVER, WHAT I really fuckin MISSED FROM Morrowind to OBLIVION WAS mostly in location. I loved HOW IN MORROWIND, I COULD just go OFF EXPLORING and the landscape and TERRAIN WOULD constantly change. I LOVED the variety of ecosystems AND ENVIRONMENTS (though, I did HAVE AN ISSUE with certain enemies JUST BEING everywhere). In Oblivion, IT JUST kinda felt all TOO TRADITIONAL-FANTASY woodsy. I CAN see the CRITICISM going both WAYS though: Morrowind FELT LIKE a world (interesting, but PROBABLY NOT geographically realistic) whereas Cyrodiil felt MORE LIKE a specific region (not AS INTERESTING BUT more realistic). Morrowind FELT LIKE A melting POT, physically AND SOCIALLY.
I THINK I just liked Morrowind MORE though because IT'S THE FIRST game like that I HAD EVER played. I was JUST FUCKIN FLOORED AND overwhelmed the FIRST TIME I PLAYED it. It was LIKE LITERALLY NOTHING I'D ever played BEFORE AND BECAUSE of that no amount OF TECHNICAL absurdity can EVER DETHRONE it for ME.
LOOK, the fucking problem ISN'T SO MUCH with the PRESIDENT THESE days as it IS WITH Congress. CONGRESS IS A fucking mess. IT REFUSES TO actual do WHAT THE majority of the COUNTRY WANTS and instead HAS TURNED into a perpetual reelection MACHINE. MOST REPRESENTATIVES are gonna play the spin GAME FOR several YEARS more than the DECISION game, and as A RESULT WE HAVE a country that's the NUMBER ONE BLUE BALLER in the world. THE SYSTEM needs to be overhauled AND TIGHTENED UP. Whether it's term limits OR SOMETHING, I DON'T know, but it's clear that at THIS POINT, few politicians in CONGRESS HAVE ANYTHING close to our best INTENTIONS at heart.
This ISN'T TO SAY that we need "mavericks who are outsiders" TO TAKE the place of CURRENT politicians. I MEAN WHERE THE fuck do people thinking THAT GET off? WHY IN HELL would we want TO TAKE some folksy do gooder AND SHOVE THEM into a totalizing SYSTEM THAT'S renown FOR IT'S ability to corrupt and DESTROY. IF WE elect people who DON'T KNOW THE system "to shake up" said SYSTEM, IT'S ONLY GONNA result in them GETTING FUCKIN OWNED by that very SYSTEM. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington was a MOVIE, PEOPLE. IT does not work THAT WAY in real life. UNTIL WE can stop making PARTY-BASED ACCUSATIONS AND realized the problems ARE MULTIFACETED and require more than JUST a month--or even FOUR FUCKING YEARS--of work, we ARE FUCKED.
