"Did anyone else freak-out and turn-off their PS2 the first time they played the Arsenal Gear section of MGS2? I was 12 at the time and had no idea what was going on, I was borrowing the game from someone and thought I'd completely broken it."
Haha. That part was awesome.
I thought it was crazy when Sora stabbed himself in Kingdom Hearts. It was pretty awesome, though.
"Sony said theyre gonna charge publishers and/or developers for DLC downloads (16 cents a gig i think) :P so atleast theyre hurting them and not the player. And the service isnt that incredible to start off with to charge even 10 bucks for."
That's just to pay for part of the bandwidth and the servers. 16 cents a gig isn't that much when it comes to selling your game to the consumer. I mean, let's say ten thousand people download a 250 MB trailer. That's 2500 GB, which comes out to $400. So, they only have to sell seven games to recoup that cost. Hopefully at least seven people will be convinced out of ten thousand. =P
"Moving to an online market helps, making it easier for people to pay online and get either benifits or just make it super easy is a good thing. I've started buying a lot of games that I want to own from Steam, it's very easy to just use paypal through steam and the weekly deals and nice flow of the store really helps.
I don't think I can justify driving all the way out to the mall or game store just for anything other then the top best games everyone knows about, which really only seems to make up a smaller part of gaming. having more accessible games markets and stores online is the way to go, digital distributionfor the winz.
I don't see a place of retail game stores in the future for anything other then old game trade-ins and possibly hardware/platform purchases. Maybe full on gaming store mergings will happen where you'll see a 'Gamestop' section in bestbuy near the computers and that gaming section has not just consoles but gaming focused computers aswell, that would be interesting.
EDIT: Didn't notice this thread was like... many pages :) Reading is for losers anyways.
"Who wants Imagine Baby Sitter when you can have Girls on Trampoline. But now Okami is cool because you get to play as a dog who is the reincarnation of some long dead god."
I tried Final Fantasy Tactics Advance using malicious means and it was fun... but I've stopped doing that. I'm planning to get a PSP someday and I'll definitely buy the remake of the original FFT.
